While I was at lunch heard on ESPN Radio a LB recruit for the Gators said he spoke with Meyer on phone and Urbie said he would be back on feild by August.

First .....smoke screen or not?
secondly isn't this the "dead period"? How is a retired, leave of absence, whatever member of staff calling recruits?

The RB recruit Mack Brown said Meyer told him that. And you are allowed to call a recruit once per week during dead period.

Coaches are allowed to call recruits once per week during dead period, and recruits, i believe, can call coaches as much as they want.

This whole CUM thing is getting a bit Brett Favreish, reguardless what his decision is, or what he is telling his recruits, if i was a recruit I wouldnt want to play for an unstable coach.

All recruits should jump aboard the "LANE TRAIN," cause its going to be a great ride!

People need to take a look at Mandel's column on this in SI.com (in his mailbag). Meyer needs professional help. He almost has a heart attack, and he still cannot walk away from 18 year old kids and 17 year old recruits? He seriously needs mental help, and almost seems to admit as much. If he comes back next year he might not make it our alive.

This whole thing is beyond weird. he says he does not want to be like Skip Prosser, yet says he will coach next season after dropping 20 pounds this year and suffering from potentially multiple heart conditions. I'm sorry if this sounds insensitive, but he's being a freakin moron. Someone needs to save him from himself if everything I am reading is true.

How in the world can CUM know he will be healthy enough bu Aug to return to coaching, he is simply trying to save this class and not have a talent gap like UT did a few years ago with the 38th class in tha nation.

Honestly this is becoming laughable. Is he going, staying, taking a break and coming back in August?

Stress can effect the body in a number of ways. Taking 7 months off isn't going to change the fact that next season accompany more pressure than he has ever had to endure as a head coach. He will still have the same problems.

You can be assured they will get everyone's best game and with the number of players leaving, I believe 3-4 losses.

Frankly, I am getting sick of hearing about him.

If he is truly going to listen to his family and doctors and is trying to become healthier, there is no way he can set a timetable. You can't set a timetable on when you're going to get better with this type of thing. It's just ridiculous what he's trying to do by deceiving the public and recruits.

one theory that fits is a substance abuse issue.

Ambien was mentioned in the report re the 911 call, chest pains, "tingling," unconscious, etc.

rehab programs are often on a timeline, which would allow him to say with some confidence that he will be back by 8/10.

Good observation!! Something else is definately going on with this azz clown!! Just looking at and listening to him in his interviews make me sick. He makes Nick Saban look like an angel, I HATE Meyer!!!! This situation is getting to Tiger like, when all is said and done I think something comes outta this that ruins this guys rep!!

Now that does make good sense, never thought of it that way. Urban could have an addiction.....maybe an addiction to Tebow and he is begining to get the DT's.......that would explain the shakes and tingling

He has to 'DeTebow' and that will take a few months... heh heh

Frankly, I don't wish the man any ill health, but I think he is definately FOS.. If he screws these kids over he should be roasted by the media.... but he wont be.

Mack Brown needs his head examined if he goes to Florida. They don't use running backs in a typical fashion and get very little carries. Mack should look elsewhere if he wants to be a featured guy, he won't get that in that quirky offense.

Just wait till Brantley plays QB and there will be more under center play. I actually talked to Mack yesterday at the UA all americans and he said "I'm going to Florida regardless."
