The Kansas win and the seven-game winning streak despite suspensions, dismissal has put the Vols basketball program on the map big! Tennessee's win over Alabama has been featured all day on ESPN's Sportscenter, with high praise going to Pearl, Chism Hopson. Gee, it's hard to believe they're talking about UT basketball. Now if we could just get some fans in the stands to jump up and down.

I will be the first to say that I was critical of the student's sppearances at the games. With that being said, they have been all over it. I was there for Kansas and they were rocking the whole time, plus after that as well. Students are definitely doing their part.

Yea but it's the rest of the bums that sit there like its a funeral.....Several times during the Ole Miss game the woman behind us would comment, I wish they would sit down so we could see the game....Well get up and cheer them on and still see the game

There is a real funny story relating to the Ala. game where an usher instructed Wayne Chism to sit down.
As you may or may not be aware, Wayne often stands and coaches when he gets in early foul trouble.

Wayne sat down and Coach Pearl jerked him back up and then scolded the usher who was clearly a homer. The usher smiled sheepishly and didn't say another word, while Wayne stood for the rest of the first half.

I think people should stop knocking on older people for sitting down durring the game. It's hard on knees and backs and if the retort for that argument is they shouldn't go to the game, try filling TBA with only students, it doesn't add up.

Just a theory: Does anybody think the students care more about basketball whenever the football program is down a bit? The students disappeared for much of last basketball season, and I thought there might have been a bit of apathy for basketball after CLK was hired.

Suddenly, the students are back in full force for every basketball game. Not complaining, it's great to see.

Agreed. I have no problem with people sitting, as long as they don't complain about us standing.

I'm talking about sellouts. If we can put 100,000 in Neyland, the basketball Vols should be selling out BTA. Would an elite eight, final four appearance change that? I'd love to see UT become a basketball school.

If Wayne can keep up at this pace he may be playing himself right into the 2nd round of the NBA draft. He has been very dominant of late on the boards and down low. The more people hear your name, the more they assume you are a world beater, i.e. Adam Morrison.

Showing up for #1 Kansas and a top 25 Ole Miss team is great - but, I wan to see it continue throughout SEC play. We will see when some of the lesser teams in the SEC show up. I'll reserve my praise for the student section until I see them show up for a winless UGA team in Feb...

I am not saying the student will not... just that they haven't in the past.

Just to be clear - when I say "students" I mean more than the platform behind the basket.

What are the NCAA rules regarding what players can or cannot do on the bench?

I imagine there are sportsmanship conduct rules, governing yelling obscenities and the like. But what about players standing, jumping around, and that type of thing?

I dont know if there are rules or not, but I know that ref was ticked when Bama called that t.o. and one of our players was swinging his towel and it missed the refs face by an inch. It was a great reaction I wish I had tivo thatd be a nice video to post

Problem is, the crowd seems to be very reactive. They wait until the team does something good to be loud. It would be nice if the crowd drove the team, rather than the opposite.

Seriously...an usher told a player to sit down? I guess Chism was just being nice but I think I would have given the usher the "whatever" look and kept going.

Not at all I can certainly say as a student that my friends and I have been "full force" supporters of UT bball for the past 5 years....

It's called temporary talk. Trust me...Espn has NO love for Tennessee. When we drop a few games, things will be back to normal and hate shall continue. ;)
