"Tennessee is back
Tennessee is 2-0 and has won both games by at least 15 points. Are you buying Tennessee as a team that can win 10 games this season?

Buy:
Vols have been playing some D. Tennessee has held its last four opponents to fewer than 20 points per game, tied for the longest active FBS streak. In those four games, the Volunteers have allowed 3.6 yards per carry and opponents have failed to gain yards on an SEC-best 31 percent of their rushes.

Sell:
We saw this last year and the two years before that. In each of the previous three seasons, Tennessee has started 2-0 and then lost to a ranked team by at least 10 points in its third game. In those three losses, the Volunteers were outgained by an average of 218 yards and allowed almost 8 yards per play (7.9).

The Vols travel to Norman to take on No. 4 Oklahoma Saturday night (8 ET/ABC).

Vols cannot throw the ball. In SEC play last season, Tennessee threw eight more interceptions (13) and was sacked seven more times (12) than it had passing touchdowns (5). The Volunteers had a Total QBR of 46.1 in SEC play, 11th in the conference."

After reading this, our O-Line last year was way overhyped and didn't live up to their expectations. Sure, our O-Line this year are young and very inexperienced but I see them putting up more a fight this season than last years O-Line. Just my opinion.

Geez... SEC play stats from last year. We could have gotten better numbers if we put Lucas Taylor at QB. Highest recorded QBR in SEC play in a season iirc.

Nah. Sam Pittman was way underhyped. Should've hung onto him.

I'm pretty sure that most die hard fans would give their left nut to have last years offensive line back. All 5 made it to NFL camps and 4 of the 5 made the final roster.

This is true but they also underachieved mightily last year. So, in conclusion: hell no I'm not giving either of my nuts to have them back.

What most Vol fans wanted (along with Jay Graham)....but we don't have the responsibility of building a successful team...Butch needed and got his own people.

I'll agree that he "got his own people". If you're building the "best coaching staff in the country" and the best offensive line coach in the country falls into your lap, unless he's as nutty as Bo Pelini you keep him.

I don't know the mentality of a head coach but I'd imagine a priority would be surrounding yourself with people that can teach the players your system and principles...Pittman is a great coach...but not great enough to trump a relationship that Butch already has had success with...if there was a scientific measure to grade Pittman vs Mahoney, I don't think it would be a significant disparity.
