Vandy plays UCONN this year? The epic struggle of who will be worse.
Vanderbilt’s new mantra: “Flush It Down!”

It’s ironic that all their alumni/fans think their s*** don’t stink but in reality you can smell that stench 3,000 miles away. This game will undoubtedly be a crapshoot.

They couldn't care less about sports and aren't even trying. They don't measure the size of their egos (which is considerable) by their performance in athletic events.

Agreed...was listening to one of the CFB talk shows on Sirius XM and they guy had a interesting ideal. Something like soccer does where teams get elevated or dropped to lower conferences based on results. His point was why should schools like Vandy, Rutgers and others get the TV money from conferences when they have no interest in winning or even being competitive.

So using that format if a school like Vandy keeps getting killed every season they get dropped down to maybe the MAC and a lower team that performs good like a Louisiana or a Coastal Carolina gets bumped up to a conference like the American or even the B12 for a season or two......I don't think there is ANY way this could work in college sports for a number of reasons but it would be a interesting concept. Reward the schools for their success and punish the ones that are just laying around getting big conference money without any results.

If you are going to have a system of promotion/relegation, you need to set it up that way from the very beginning. It's hard to set up the conference a certain way in the 30s and then change it 90 years later.

Having said that, when the conference was created there was an assumption that the schools in the conference would actually commit resources to have a competitive program. Sewanee and Tulane saw that they weren't on board with that and got out; the SEC would have been better off if Tulane stayed and Vandy left, probably.

Of course there are always going to be haves and have nots, but the schools in the conference should all be trying. I don't think Vandy cares at all, yet they get their slug of SECN money just like everyone else.
