to rebuild Tennessee...

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The identifying color around here is not exactly a guarded secret. If you're from East Tennessee, you are somewhat-to-overtly obsessive about Pantone 151; if you're not, you loathe it to the point of nausea.

"There's renewed optimism. There's a vision," Jones told me earlier this month, sitting in his recently completed football office that seems as if it's been pulled from the pages of an IKEA catalog. "You're going to get consistency. You're going to get continuity. It's a chance to represent one of those most storied football programs in the country.

"I understand I'm the caretaker of Tennessee football. I'm fortunate to be here."

The Pantone Matching System is a color-graded scale to mix colors.

Pantone 151 is the official shade of the University of Tennessee.

It's our orange, and I qualify as obsessive about it.

And you're absolutely allowed because you gave more to UT that 80% of the people on this board. :hi:

Starting with Lane and ending with Dooley, we have become very jaded and pessimistic as a fan base with regard to coaching hires. Lane simply can't coach. Look at USC this year in a conference much inferior to the SEC.

Dooley was a last gasp hire who did a good job in steadying a ship that could have sunk much lower than where we're at.

If Butch was hired instead of Lane, he would still be our coach and we would be singing his praises and wishing every bottom feeding NFL team needing a HC stopped contacting him, IMO.

Give him some rope. I'm glad the internet wasn't around with Johnny and Phil, otherwise Johnny would have been hung out to dry about 1984. Regrettably, Phil was given much more slack.

blah blah blah, fan apathy, blah blah blah. Be nice to see something on the field worthy of being called UT football.

Amen. These pom pom rah rah articles are nice but not getting excited about much until I see the results on the field. Too much of this same stuff over the last 10+ years.

Yes indeed im like you to much talk, lets see some results then run of at the mouth seem like we are doing it backward, needs to quit talking so much and just do the job then you can talk when you can back it up.

Im like you one eyed, I have been hearing a bunch of talk, its time to back it up,

Actually, football season will be that time...

I know you cant do it over night its like there is to much talk,

Thank you for speaking for everyone. It's nice to know we have so much NCAA coaching experience on the board. Where did you gain so much knowledge about what a coach must and must not do in Feb?

needs to just shut the mouth up and do the job, then do the talk.

What is he supposed to be doing right now, that he's not? Exactly?

And exactly how much talking is he allowed to do? What standards organization developed this concrete requirement? Can I download their documentation in pdf format? I'd like to play along at home and be a guest judge like you.

CBJ is saying and doing all the right thing right now. I hope carries this over on to the field on game day. If he does this these recruits will listen to what he has to say.
