Just read in the Tennessean that ESPN will be following Tennessee basketball through the Auburn game for their show "The Season".

ESPN pub: A crew from ESPN's weekly show The Season arrived in town yesterday and will follow the Vols through next Wednesday's Auburn game.

The documentary-style, reality-based series takes a behind-the-scenes look at various teams throughout the season. The show featuring Tennessee is scheduled to air on either February 21 or 22.

I think BP is a story they want to be on the heels of, good or bad. Hopefully they'll pull off another couple of victories, and it'll be all good....though i'm sure the story will start off with the tape recorded conversation with that recruit from way back when......

oh well, i'll watch....commentary to follow...

Man, what would ESPN do if they didn't hate the Vols? Full season documentary detailing every practice and game from when the players wake up in the morning until they go to sleep at night?

Someone probably already mentioned this elsewhere on the board, but this morning on ESPN they had Dick Vitale answering five questions from an announcer, i.e. whether Kentucky would make the tournament, who would win the Pac-10, etc. The fifth question was whether he though the bigger surprise was George Washington U. or Tennessee. He said in response no doubt it was Tennessee and he had a lot of nice things to say about Pearl and possible coach of the year honors.

Was that on SportsCenter, lawgator? I'll try and catch a replay if it was.

Actually, I don't know. It was around 8:15 a.m. EST. Just caught a snippet of it. They even made some lighthearted cracks about the orange jackets. He is becoming a bit of a media darling with those things.

Nah, that was a straight up bash, they hate UT.

Thanks though, I'll check it out about a quarter after.

come on people get over the espn thing. Didn't they do a behind the scenes thing on vol football last year...and it was scheduled before we crapped out? I've heard just about nothing but good things from espn about the vols basketball program this year.

Alright, I'll take your word for it, but I'm still skeptical... :D

UT has got to be the least talked about 3-loss team out there right now. I don't think that is going to last much longer, particularly if you beat UGA, Auburn, and 'bama to get to 20 wins against only 3 losses. Really, when you look at it on paper, you ought to win those three. The game at Florida is increasingly looking to me like, unless UF breaks out of this S.C. funk, it could be two teams going in opposite directions at the time.

I don't blame you. Even though I am a little miffed that the Gators have managed to get swept by a team (S.C.) that I just have to believe is not as good as the Gators, I am still overall very pleased with 20-3 at this point. If the Gators go just 4-3 down the stretch, they would finish regular season at 24-6 and that is way better than I figured.

I would just like to see a Gator team for once stand up and be counted at tournament time. The last few years its one and out (two and out once, as well). As I said yesterday, a lot of teams out there have another gear when they get into the NCAA tournament and it seems like Florida just hasn't had that. This group does seem a lot more enthusiastic than last year's bunch, so maybe that will help. But you just hate to see a team lose two games to a S.C. team, largely based I am convinced on lack of effort and energy for those two. The really good teams do not deflate like Florida apparently did against S.C. this week, albeit sandwiched between Kentucky and LSU. Then again, maybe the Gators just aren't that good.

For now, I am going to chalk it up to inexperience. Florida starts four sophomores and a junior and even those guys who got some minutes last year here and there were dwarfed by David Lee, Anthony Roberson, and Matt Walsh, so they don't know what its like to be the "go to" guys. I got news for them: There ain't no one else to go to so these guys need to get their head back in the game and the season and if they want to go down as a great team they had better start winning the little ones, too!!!!

Just a tad late in the season to be playing the experience card isn't it there LG?

Not if the inexperience is causing them to be too high for Kentucky but too low for South Carolina just four days later. And that is what I think is going on. I HOPE that is what is going on.

Fear not, your seed will be waiting for you come March.
It'll just be one or two lower than ours... :p

I think the florida men are in the same boat as the tennessee women to some extent (although I know it's a reach). Both come into the season with high expectations and achieve those expectations for much of the season except for a few speed bumps. I think florida will be fine but if you will indulge me in just one more comparisson they have been the atlanta braves of the ncaa tourney for the last couple of years...tons of talent, hype, and record...short on finishing
btw, I say that with pain in my heart as I dearly love my atlanta braves.

I think it's still a factor...we're only about halfway through conference play...

I am one of the people who thinks ESPN has been giving our basketball team more than their fair share of props, but that suprises me about Dickey V. I know that there have been some hard feelings there with some things that happened in the past. It's nice to see that Vitale is hopefully putting all that behind him.

Very good analysis... the finishing problem fits the Lady Vols as of the last 6 years too.

Vitale is crazy about the Vols this years. He loves Pearl..
