Coming up with the list of the top 150 prospects is never an easy task. From watching countless hours of game film, to in-person scouting at training camps, combines, 7-on-7 tournaments and college camps, to interviewing coaches about players, the task is daunting. There have been more than 10,000 players at events attended by ESPN Recruiting's scouts and we have already put together close to 1,500 scouting reports and will have 3,000 reports on the nation's top players by the time signing day rolls around.
Clowney No. 1 in initial ESPNU 150

State-by-state and position breakdowns:
Breaking down the 2011 ESPNU 150 - ESPN

While the combined populations of Florida, Texas, Georgia and Louisiana make up 19% of the total US population, prospects from those states make up a ridiculous 57% of the ESPNU 150 (85 of 150).

To look at that list and see we had the #2 player in the country signed at one point hurts..

Never signed...just committed...and if Wilson were still here he'd still be committed...the 2nd Wilson left so did Johnson

Thats what I meant thanks for not being that guy and fixing it. It would have been a fight to the end but it still was nice.

This is the first time I have preferred ESPN's rankings to Rivals. I definitely think the top 50 is more accurate although the 50s to mid-hundreds are so close that it's hard to really feel strongly either direction. The top 50 seem fairly accurate at this point, imo.

I highlighted those that I know are currently considering UT. I'm not including Scout's preseason rankings b/c they're a joke imo. I may refer to ESPN's rankings this season for a first. I guess there's a first for everything...
