Estimate how many years it will take

Holly to beat Dawn Staley and South Carolina?

I won't say she will never beat her but the question is how long will it take Tennessee to know Holly isn't the answer,in any sport when you follow a giant in PAT the mother of college basketball the one that follows just can't get the job done.,from the outside looking in she can't recruit the elite player's like Pat.

Phillip Fulmer was fired after the 2008 season. Three coaches and seven years later, Tennessee is still a less than stellar football program. Still have not defeated Florida or Alabama.

The correct question may very well be: How many coaches of the Lady Vols will be Fired before they defeat South Carolina, and return to the Final Four?

The problem we have is if the program could have been handed to a good coach when Pat stepped down we could have still had a name in recruiting. Now, we're expecting Dave Hart to get it done. My expectations are low.

Holly to beat Dawn Staley and South Carolina?

I give her a very small chance this year, and I only give her that because the Lady Vols get them at home. The talent gap is actually minimal right now, but as long as Holly is here the gulf between the two programs will continue to widen...

From the perspective of a contrarian to most views on the board I'm curious (and this is not sarcastic) what is your breaking point? When do you think its appropriate to make a change? From not only a win-loss perspective but recruiting as well.

What if UT misses the NCAA tournament this year?

One (1) if they send Holly on her way and hire the "right" coach.

That wouldn't surprise me.

She has a win over Staley will be the last one. Holly and this staff cannot recruit they whiffed on the 2016 class and were in with these players the rest of this season and next minus Graves. So things could go from bad to worse.

UT should go after Dawn Staley IMO. Could UT hire Staley away from SC?

Until I see evidence to the contrary, I don't think Dawn Staley is an elite level coach that UT would want. She's been coaching for 15 years and she just now is to the point where Melanie Balcomb, Matthew Mitchell, Van Chancellor, and Andy Landers have all been.

Maybe she will break through, but more than likely not.

Muffet McGraw is the elite level coach we would want if we could get her. She's beaten UCONN more than once. She has lost elite level talent and doesn't rebuild - she just reloads. She does much more with less talent and would do WONDERS with the talent UT has. It would be night and day to what we've seen from our team lately.

The destruction of Lady Vols basketball is indeed hard to watch, I'm afraid Warlick must go asap if UT is to ever get back to the top of womens basketball
Many fans are indeed angry over the play of Warlick's teams and should be angry, to watch a storied program destroyed right before their very eye's.....

I think the offense could be pretty good if Holly would stop the bad shots and actually run plays for the players that can score. We have players on this team that should get two shots or less per game.
We need to run a lot more of the high screen when Diamond comes around for the mid-range jumper. I don't care if Mercedes takes a few mid-range shots as well she has a good stroke from there.
The offense is bad for a lot of reasons but a big one is bad shot selection by several of the players. Totally ugly attempts that have no chance of going in.
Run plays for Diamond, Mercedes, Graves, and a few for Nared and a few kicks to Dunbar. Everybody else try to play defense and prevent the many mistakes they make every game.

Hart should go after Becky Hammon. 5 years, 2 mil. plus incentives. I doubt she would ever leave UTLV for Col. St.

Dawn is much more interested in making South Carolina the next Tennessee or UCONN than she is in actually coaching at either school. I don't think SC will ever dominate the sport in that fashion because of parity but I think we'll be elite for quite awhile.

Dawn is well paid at SC. Finally has great recruiting inroads in SC, and establishing them in NC, GA and FL. She's basically a celebrity in the state and has a rabid fanbase, even Clemson fans love her for christsakes. She's only just starting to reap the reward of all the work she put into SC.

Money does talk, but in my opinion it would take a doubling of her salary for her to leave SC for Tennessee. Is Tennessee really that desperate to pay a coach with no titles upwards of $2million? I don't think so. I'm willing to bet Dawn has no interest in coaching in the shadow of Summitt or Auriemma. I think Walz or Rueck would be home run hires for Tennessee.
