We won the first meeting at home 5-2. Since then the bottom has fallen out for ETSU. They've lost 17 of their last 20 games and are currently on a five game losing streak. Last weekend they were swept by Samford who outscored them 30-12.

The Team ERA is 6.53 and the pitching stats don't paint a pretty picture. Ryan Simpler (1-3) has made 15 appearances and 4 starts. His ERA is 6.39, and teams are batting.279 versus Simpler.

Zach Warren (2-0) gets the start for UT. Warren has a 4.26 ERA through 19 innings of work with 14Ks and 8 walks. CDS said he would like to use several guys but he's going to do what we need to do to win the game.

Offensively they put up 6 runs per game and they have 5 or 6 guys that can really hit it, they have 29 home runs on the year which sounds pretty good...but get this...

Their pitchers have given up...wait for it...wait for it...

52 home runs...fifty-two...in 38 games...and the guy we're facing has given up 7...if this doesn't make Stew and Senzel lick their chops I don't know what will.

They've made more errors than we have. Enough said there I guess.

This is a winnable mid week game, but ya never know whats going to happen...oh, and after tomorrow, we'll have played 23 road games and only 13 home games, not something you see every day.

Part one CDS Interview: http://216.172.182.115/wnml/johnjim530.mp3

Part two CDS Interview: http://216.172.182.115/wnml/johnjim545.mp3

Part two is pretty interesting.[/QUOTE

I think that was something we all know, love the softball q & a with bob, and the caller must have been related to CDS I don't think he has a clue, and if we get swept by the cocks, he should step aside. he still talking Hoover, how many people think thats going to happen? he also stated they have Omaha talent, if thats the case, you should win more than 2 series all year long. reminds me why you shouldn't run off good coaches(CRD), feel bad for the kids, but they apparently aren't putting in the work, missing signs, can't hit and run, bad base running.

maybe Hart will send him back to cali

Too lazy and not enough time to listen to the segment

Cliff notes of the interesting part???

Thanks

The parts that I thought weren't just kinda the same coach speak stuff were:

1. Owenby came out of the game due to an injury/soreness, not performance based. He's being evaluated, might be able to go this weekend, but as of right now the Sunday starter is TBA.

2. Hyams asked him if it might be time for a youth movement, CDS said he'd thought about it but he's not ready to send the message to the team that we're playing for next year because mathematically and due to some other teams floundering we still have a shot at Hoover.

3. In the second segment they take a call and the guy asks about the base running and signs, but he also makes a comment about Bergeron leaving the field and some kind of interaction with the crowd and in light of some of the discussion in another thread, I found it interesting, though I'm not sure exactly what happened or with who, but the caller said it left some of the people he was sitting around "bummed" out.

YOUTH MOVEMENT? How many of the younger players have shown that they can even compete at this level, much less give the team a lift?

We've really have only seen Leftridge, Santiago, Warren and a little bit of Langhorne. Obviously, some guys may have injuries that we don't know about, like I didn't know Vanderford had surgery. Westphal has only gotten 7 innings of work, Soto, and Quint Robinson and Reid have pitched an inning, Richard Jackson hasn't pitched at all, Freeman either. I guess we're gonna red shirt Cammarata.

I think Hyams was asking the question when do you see what some of the young guys can do...assuming AJ leaves, who on the roster would replace him and don't you want to see what they can do? I definitely don't think he was implying that anyone we haven't seen was going to give the team a lift.

And he's right. With 12 conference games to play, we're a game out of 13th and a game and a half behind 12th with two other struggling teams just ahead of that. Most of the hardest part of the schedule and most of the road games are behind us. I'd have been appalled if he wasn't still playing for Hoover.

Absolutely.

This staff is starting to look more and more like a bust. They miss on a lot of local guys (Brett Martin Morristown,Blake Stansberry SouthDoyle, Will Crowe PF,...) All guys that wanted to come here but they turned their noses... and their in game management is terrible. I cannot even count how many guys they have had picked off first and several off 2nd! if you play D1 baseball there is no way you should be picked off 2nd. Also, whenever Bergeron coaches 3rd it seems like the only time he gives signs is when action is on, that makes me think other teams have our signs. They just play 6th inning on baseball from opening pitch and try to control the game too much from the coaches box. They better hope they can bring in some freshman this year to help out because the guys they have over there now outside of senzel and stewart are not SEC caliber players IMO

Martin was a Vol. The staff "parted" ways with him and he was a top 5 rounder just 4 months later. Very surprised that one hasn't been talked much about here on this board
