Apologies for the tardiness. I've spent entirely too much time following the basketball search, but I'm glad to see the increased activity, which of course we will need to reach Doyle Hargraves goal.
ETSU came to Knoxville on April 1, got three hits, one a two run homer off of Kyle Serrano in the fourth inning. That was pretty much the game as the Vols lost 2-1. The Vols used six pitchers on the day and pitched well enough to win, but timely hitting was the missing component, as we left eight men stranded. Now we go to their place.
ETSU: 19-18 (8-6), 204 RPI, 203 SOS
PITCHING
Jimmy Nesslett - 4.50 ERA, 4-3 w/l, 66 IP, 79 H, 34 R, 33 ER, 15 BB, 36 SO, 15 2B, 5 3B, 6 HR, b/avg. .304
We did not face him last time around. He is a junior right hander and he leads the team in innings pitched by a large margin, which is an odd stat for a midweek game. It would appear that they are going to roll out their Saturday starter for the game tomor...today.
It would just be a wild guess as to who might come on in relief, so...
The team ERA is 4.73
At the Plate
Their best player, pitcher, hitter...is Clinton Freeman. He's the guy that jacked the homer off Serrano. He leads the team in just about every hitting category including hits, RBI's and home runs with nine. He's batting .361, a team best, no other player is hitting .300. He has not attempted to steal a base this year. He's only had one error all season.
The team BA is .263
They have 44 E's
They are 36/52 Att./SB's * the guy to watch is Dylan Tritsch.
Summary
Tennessee has lost 1 mid week game this season so...I suspect the boys will be ready to play. The first ETSU game came on the heels of the South Carolina series and I'd say the team's confidence was a bit shaky from the trip.
The first game was a low scoring affair and neither team could get much going. ETSU will be ready and I suspect there will be a rowdy crowd on hand. Hopefully our boys are feeling good coming off the come from behind Bama win and we destroy ETSU at their place and avenge the only mid week loss of the year.
GBO!!!
