Sankey isn’t stupid. He knows exactly what is going on.

Saban is a mastermind manipulator.

No doubt Sankey is turning a blind eye on the officiating.
I don’t think Sankey is turning a blind eye to it. I think he’s actively encouraging it. I don’t think it’s partial to just Bama it’s partial to who the conference thinks can advance a team to the playoffs and who sets that up best. Bama will be west champs and unbeaten in conference, Georgia will be undefeated going into the playoffs.

The absolute best scenario is if Georgia gets in and the refs in the playoffs call every ticky tack Bs call against them and they lose.

In 2022, Alabama was 4th from the bottom of all 131 teams in penalties yards per game, meaning only 3 other teams were penalized more in all college football.

Saban knows how to manipulate refs. You don't think he had a lot to say after all the penalties that were called on them in our game last year? He is a defensive backs coach and the technique he teaches is to run with the player with your hands all over him all the time and dare the refs to call it. The theory is that they get used to seeing it and don't want to call it every play so they only call it when they drag someone down. Last year we threw deep over and over and got the blatant penalties. This year we never really tried, maybe because our qb throws it out of bounds or totally uncatchable which negates the penalty. Also, our dbs are taught the technique of just running with them and not touching them, so the one time our player put a hand on somebody, bam, penalty. The play where the announcers were drooling over Kool Aid running our guy out of bounds on the long pass is a penalty on anybody else! The ball's in the air as he pushes him out of bounds.

There is absolutely no way that Alabama plays like it does, with so few penalties, without Saban having SOME sort of deal/influence/demon-level-possession of the refs
