Memphis is a better team than us and we lost at their place. We were in the game till about five minutes. The score wasn't as bad as the game was.

If you didn't think it was a rebuilding year (with any coach), I don't know what to tell you.

It is what it is. It's year one. If we are doing this next year, then we got problems.

SEC plays starts. You get a big rival at home, where anything can happen. If Florida is cold shooting, we got a chance for a big upset.

So everyone, calm down :)

We have as much chance at beating Fla as we have at going to the NCAA's this year. Zilch.

I agree that this is a rebuilding year, but I expected to be a little more competitive tonight. Our D was atrocious and our offense was inept. Fla is a much better team than Tiger High as is Miss St and Ky. These next 3 games are going to be brutal if we play the way we did tonight.

We were competitive till about the final five minutes, where Memphis wore us down.

No, the score was closer because Memphis plays street ball. They had a double digit lead for most of the half. We never threatened.

Disagree. I didn't think we were out of it till Barton hit the three to make it 15. Then the game was over.

Then you weren't watching the same game I was. We never threatened them in the entire 2nd half. Hell, what was the closest margin? 7? We didn't play defense all night and didn't consistently shoot it to give me any confidence at all. It never was a game.

We killed them on the boards in Maui.
This game they returned the favor.
Got to recruit some big boys. Stokes is a start.

I'm as optimistic as they come. Not sure we can beat FL but hey, didn't think we could beat Texas in Austin Pearl's first year either.

Yes I was.

Was I 100% sure he would pull it out? No, of course not.

Did I think we still had a little bit of a chance, most definitely.

So, you're saying there's a chance?! Heh.

Sorry, I never felt we would ever threaten after the 15 min mark. Bad defense and quick, bad shots and getting outrebounded by 10.

We had no flow or continuity offensively at all. We never threatened in the second half, because we were never a threat to put together 10 straight points offensively, and it would have taken a run like that to get us back in the game.

The game was essentially over when the margin hit double digits. That is not true for all games, but tonight, it was most certainly the case. Points were at a premium for us tonight, and we pissed away far too many possessions with bad shot selection. Our only hope was for Memphis to shoot themselves in the foot and allow us back in.

Let's face it, we are not a good basketball team. Maybe Stokes will help some once he is ready to play. Our insisde game is horrible because Kenny Hall is the softest 6'9" player EVER! No rebounds last night. THat is unbelievable to me. THe guy should never leave the bench unless the game is completely out of hand.

We are very fragile, tonight was a perfect example of this. Maymon was not making the same shots he did in Aloha country and he stop trying. McBee is very much a streak shooter, one of the play by play guys said he was a fantastic three shooter and I almost fell out of my lazyboy. This team is fine if they get to play their style, but if you change that to another game, look out we couldn't beat two rivers middle school. JMO

I've seen nothing that indicates this team understands what its style and identity is.

The style of this game was determined by the officiating.
Don't get me wrong. It was consistent on both sides and I like it when they let them play.

If you look at the Maui game there were 50+ fouls called and most of the players on both teams were in foul trouble.

In the first half of this game there were something like 5 or 6 fouls called in the first half.
The majority of fouls called in the second half were after the little fracas with Washpun.
Go back and watch the game under the boards. Maymon was being mugged every time he got the ball. Thus 4-15.
Yes, we were doing the same.

Maymon was getting no help from Hall who becomes a tree in the summer breeze in physical games. And Yemi just gets lost - that's understandable at this point.

Sorry, we're just not going to do well in physical games like this one until we gets some studs in the front court that can match up. Stokes is a start. JMO

McBee's average was 47.9% from three point range for the year before the Memphis game.
The coach doesn't have the ability change offense or defense when other coaches change their offense or defense. He is in over his head.

I won't disagree with your assessment of last night's game because it is accurate. However, that doesn't change the fact that this team is void of identity. They never force their tempo on opponents, and this far into a season, that is a sign of no leadership, no identity, or both. In our case, it's both. There are no mental giants on this team, and with our lack of physical talent, there is just no direction or identity. We allow whomever we play to dictate how the game is going to be played; what tempo, what level of physicality, etc.

To put it short, we are passive in every aspect.

I agree.
