......he was a higher MOCK DRAFT pick, than Darius Heyward-Bey. Forget real life, he wants the cash because some guy thought he was a better player than DHB.......

Oh, what the NFL has descended in to....

Just when I thought Natalie Maines was the stupidest person to ever go to Texas Tech, along comes Michael Crabtree with this crap.

Remember how upset Mike Leach got over the "prima donna" rep Crabtree got at the combine?

Way to prove the experts right Crabtree.

it's whiney and stupid on his part yeah.

I'm confused on something though. If he doesn't sign with the 49ers and then sits out a year, how does that allow him to be redrafted in 2010? And wouldn't the 49ers still own the rights to him or something?

But more importantly how can a player be redrafted?

A player can be redrafted after 1 year, if his eligibility(playing for the team or signing a contract) is not used. Happened with Bo Jackson back about 20-25 years ago.

Crabtree is totally being a little bitch about it, but he is definitely better than DHB

Healthy, he is better than DHB; however, he was not drafted above him, so Crab should shut up and prove he is better on the field. :nono:

Attitude counts. I'm not saying that Al Davis isn't an idiot, but it's easy to see how a normal NFL GM might look around the league at WRs like Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, Anquan Boldin, etc., and think, "You know, I need a WR. I can either take Crabtree, who's earned a reputation as a bit of a prima donna already, or I can take a guy who projects to be 90 percent as good and isn't going to be a princess. Screw it; I'll take a chance on the guy who's not going to poison my locker room."

Given that it's Davis, that probably wasn't his thinking, but you can see why somebody wouldn't have to be insane to take Heyward-Bey over Crabtree.

This was Al Davis though. Attitude wasn't a thing; he picked the WR who had the fastest time at the combine and that was his reasoning. He's known for picking a player just b/c they're faster, and that's why honestly they were expecting him to take maclin anyways when the raider's 1st pick was up on the board

Crabtree is a cocky person and probably does believe he should be one of the top 3 paid players in his own delusional world. That said, we're going off what a distant relative has said. Once Crabtree says this himself, I'll become concerned for San Fran.

Too bad Julio or AJ Green can't come out next year. I'd love to see Crabtree sit out and fall behind those two and Dez Bryant.

Crabtree should talk to Heath Shuler and find out what happens when a rookie holds out for more money.

pretty sure Elway didn't sign when he was drafted either

he had threatened before the draft that he would choose to play baseball for the Yankees instead if he were drafted and signed by the baltimore colts. So they traded his rights to the broncos less than a week later....his case was more like eli manning and the chargers-giants fiasco that day honestly

I would say that the most likely scenario is that Crabtree holds out for most of the preseason, the 49ers keep offering the same contract, and the agent eventually comes to the realization that there is no way in hell he makes more money by re-entering the draft.
