With their personel and coaches I say they would be around the 9-3 10-2 mark and winning the east with a hungry coaching staff. I am just trying to see if we can put a dent in them. I go to that game every year and I like that we played them close the last two years. But I also would like to think we can beat them also. First year sec coaches always struggle. I remember how we beat Spurrier in 90. I also remember how we should have beat Meyer in 05 and 06. We always had a chance until he figured out Fulmer would play the same defense and offensive plays hence 07-08.

The Gator defense should be very good-to-excellent. Especially with Muschamp coaching.

The question remains offense. We've got some decent skill players, but still imo no breakout or even reasonably dependable running back. The offensive line last year was about as disappointing a unit as you will ever see, and they were the anchor for an offense that just plain sucked.

Was that because Meyer was basically three steps out the door already? Is it the kind of thing Weiss can fix quickly given the talent he has to work with?

I'm optimistic, but what college football fan isn't as we head into the summer?

10-2 or 11-1

i'd like to see weis fail, but too much talent there for another lousy year.

10 wins would be a coaching dream, but I'm doubtful it happens. To many questions on offense. 8 is more likely to happen, but simply because they will have a good defense.

8-4 with losses to Bama, LSU, FSU and either USC or UGA....which might be good enough to win the East.

The other problem offensively is so many of those skill players were chosen for an offense very different than the pro-style Weis excels in. That said, what Weis did with KC last year was nothing short of remarkable, and his one-year-turnarounds on offense is now 4-for-4 in his career.

My guess is it takes 1 more year before they find their pace offensively, and then they will be back to top-5 caliber for quite some time.

Sad but true Vegas. I'm rooting for the exploding egos = chaos theory to sabotage the team.

depends entirely on the offensive line and qb.

call me an optimist, but i am more bullish on the skill position players than a lot of folks. the weird thing is that contrary to what most people believe, i think the skills pieces fit better with this offense than they did urban's spread.

does it make more sense to have a guy like jeff demps utilized by catching screens, catching passes in the flat covered by linebackers, and running draws......

or, running dive plays up the middle against 300lb dt's and 240lb mlb's.

i think there are some toys that can make plays at the skill positions. can they block and do they have a qb who will make good decisions and get people the ball?

i think the defense will be extremely solid.

normally, a coaching change would be a problem. but, florida was so dysfunctional last season that i don't think that will be as big a problem as it usually would be. for instance, new system or not, the offense has to be better. if they can snap the football and hand it off, there is vast improvement.

Very good point above. However If Brantley is half as good in this new offense as lil Clausen or Brady Quinn we got huge problems. I say we have a decent shot. you guys should struggle against us, bama, lus, and uscj.

i think weis is gonna do pretty damn good, i think there was plenty of talent at WR and RB to put up big numbers there just all no names right now

after this yr hopefully the great WR's wanna come here and play in weis offense

I think it will be interesting to see if the coaching team works well together, there are some big egos in that bunch.

They are no names for a reason, the exception being Debose.

Best case we have above average talent at WR, with no reliable QB to get them the ball past 8 yards, and talented RBs with no offensive line worth a damn to block for them.
