Excellent Article on Calipari and the Memphis Violations

Everyone is missing the point here. The 'AA has no interest in investigating Cal now for a simple reason: He's now running one of their cash cow programs. The idiots that run college athletics have always had two sets of rules. One for the haves, another for the have nots. It's just like Tark said in the '80s, "The NCAA is so angry at Kentucky they'll give Cleveland State two more years of probation."

If it were more evenhanded, no one would have an issue with the ruling... maybe. But this is a sad day and no Vol or rival fan of Memphis should rejoice after this ruling.

KY may be Calipari's 3rd time is charm.. Give the CATS three years and watch for the sanctions to hit.

When will we learn that the Coach and the Athlete are responsible?

Regardless of outcome or Cal's personal concerns about it, this one's gonna stick.

Probably, but here's my question. If it seems so obvious that cheating occurred due to the fact that Rose failed three SATs and went to Detroit for the fourth and miraculously passed it a month before the season began, how did the clearinghouse clear him to enroll and play for Memphis? Are they inept or complicit?

Not really. He'll be stunningly successful at Kentucky, then take one more shot at the NBA before he retires. He loses nothing in this transaction. John has never given a damn what people think about his tactics and he's not going to start now. I'm still wondering when Duke is going to have to take down their 1999 Final Four for using the terrificly ineligible Corey Maggette. I give Gary Parrish big kudos for asking that question of that dweeb Paul Dee today.

Doesn't Darrell Arthur belong in this conversation?

I'm only talking reputation. I have no doubt it's going to be a home run at KY, but he's going to have the same rep that Wooden does, without the volume of banners.

"Hey, I'm bored, let's go after Memphis again".That's the way I see it.Multiple rule breakers and just a few teams get hounded to death, Memphis being number one.

Hat, correct me if I am wrong but didn't John Wall take his SAT in Detroit as well?

He did. If I'm not mistaken, he was in Detroit for some type of ball tournament to begin with. (not sure on this) He also attended the Chicago Bulls vs. Detroit Pistons game the night he took the test. (Fact) Said that he wanted to stay and watch the game because he likes chicago, and asked if he could take it there in Detroit. Apparently he was scheduled to take it in Chicago, but since he was going to be there in Detroit, they "approved" it. Who "approved" it, I am not sure.

Edit: NEVERMIND, THIS IS THE STORY ABOUT ROSE. However, I do think Wall took his ACT in Detroit also. maybe it was him that was in Detroit for a tournament.

I will keep searching for links.

I thought that was Derrick that was in Detroit for the Bulls-Pistons playoff game. Pure coincidence that WWW lives in Detroit though.

yeah, that was Derrick. I got so ahead of myself I just plugged the Rose story in place of Wall. lol

the ONLY reason I would lean toward thinking its a coincidence, is that I don't believe that Cal/WWW would be that stupid, honestly. If they are cheating, obviously they are quite good at it. Its hard to think they would schedule that and not know that the media would grab it and explode it. But then again, what do I know. I'm not drinking the kool-aid, and I'm not sold on Coach Cal's integrity, so to speak.

Rumors are flying everywhere about wall taking his SAT in Detroit, but I have literally went to the end of the internet and I am not finding anything other than memphis conspiracy theories on their websites.
