I bought a 2021 F150 yesterday, and I declined the extended warranty. It has 60K miles so it currently is out of warranty.

After sleeping on it I have a slight bit of regret.

It's a 5.0 XLT.

What does Volnation say?

If you recommend I get one do you know how I can compare options?

I have a 2018 XLT with 45 of thousand miles on it. Just had both front wheel bearings replaced out of warranty of course. 🤨

A service contract is a way to control cost.
You may never need it but the peace of mind is good.
If you buy from the dealer it’s a better product than buying from outside, usually. There are good ones and bad ones like anything.
Know what it covers and what it doesn’t, where it can be used, and deductible.

I bought a 2020 F150 Sport 10 spd with the 5.0 and 44k miles. Bought CarMax's extended warranty. I recommend you buy one too. Here's why:

I've always been a Ford guy. The new 5.0 is not the 5.0 of old. The new 5.0's have a tendency to burn oil, so be sure to keep an eye on that dipstick. Mine burns a qt every 1,500k right now, which is probably pretty normal. However, I know some not as lucky and have had to have their engines replaced. Ford told one guy that the cylinders were out of round at 60k. Not normal. Read some F150 forums and you will see what I'm talking about.

I really like this truck, it's a fun drive. It pulls my 20 foot flatbed without any issues.

Does that engine turn off a couple cylinders to improve MPG? Of so, that will be what causes the oil consumption. At least that is the case on our Honda Odyssey.

I don't believe so. From what I've read, it has to do with how Ford is machining the cylinders and fitting the rings.

Contrary opinion.

A lot of extended warranties arent worth the paper they are written on....

Many will try to void out any claims for not following service intervals to the letter. Some will do that if the prior owner didnt follow them.

Go with a reputable company. Ford, GM, Ally and EasyCare all one's that I know are pretty decent.

It's actually not a "warranty" but a service contract.
