Interesting that 3 Rs and 4 Ds voted against.

Interesting also how many didn't vote.

Bipartisanship at work :)

This vote was on cloture.

Yeah, if you keep reading it says:

Measure Title: A bill to extend the expiring provisions of the USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005 and the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 until June 1, 2015, and for other purposes.

the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed

I'd like to see a cloture vote on that legislation

I imagine that if any Senator drafted a bill to repeal the 17th Amendment, a motion for cloture would be taken up immediately.

true, because God forbid Senators are elected in the manner the Framers intended. (not arguing with you here, I just think it sucks that there are two bodies in Congress that represent "the people" but none to represent the states)

I agree. Senators should be appointed by Governors (confirmed by State Legislatures) and Representatives should represent no more than 100,000 constituents.

Unfortunately, this is an absolute pipe-dream.
