Since EB is gone Pro, do we gain a scholarship with his departure? Do we gain with Vinson, Donald, and Thelma & Louise exits hive us extra scholarships? Don't know if it has been address but didn't see thread to ask and wasn't about to search either.

Why such a sarcastic response? Its a legit question and some of us dont use the site enough to know there is even a search function. Sometimes its easier to post a new thread because the previous thread where this was covered may be chock full of BS totally unrelated to this question and browsing through all the unrelated garbage responses to find the answer to the question you are asking may take a great deal of time and effort. This is a message board for this exact purpose. I understand not wanting multiple threads covering the same topic but, give the OP a break here, I was wondering the same thing.

I wasn't worried but thanks! Demon Vol is the loser for posting his picture on his avatar so I wasn't interested to what Curious George had to say anyway! I hope I don't get 3 days but dude's a jerk!

The topic has been discussed to death. Any defectors, head cases, early draft enrollees, etc do not effect the amount of players we can sign with this class. We still have 2 EE's + 25 on NSD for a total of 27. We also have the option of adding 3 sign and place guys, for a total of 30 players that we can sign. I know of at least 3 other threads that have multiple pages of responses to the same questions.

You made me comment negatively and that's all you had to say. Which threads or thread is this particular info? Out of 20 pages with at least 50 posts, it is hard to find one question. Thanks nevertheless! :)

I have seen those threads as well but, wasnt sure if the most recent player losses would change any of those figures. I know that there is a newer rule that limits the total number of prospects one school can sign period but, I was wondering if there wasnt some loophole that allowed a school in a situation such as ours where due to early NFL draftees, numerous transfers, and dismissals and a severely depleted scholarship roster may be able to acquire more than that stated 25 + EE back counting.

Does anyone know why this rule was put into place anyway? Was it to keep the "hot" schools from wrapping up all the talent for themselves or was this unfair to some of the prospects that thought they had a scholly only to find out lateer that due to oversigning they didnt have a spot anymore?

Pastorfreeze, I definitely sympathize with you regarding trying to find info on some of these threads as I have spent so much time reading troll garbage, fan sarcasm/attempt at humor, along with the usual back and forth bickering only to determine the entire thread contains just 2 or 3 informative posts amongst 50+ total responses in all...

I've read this formula before, but some of the Barners think they can sign 33 or more players and are pretty adamant about it. Even when you explain the 25 + 2 EEs then a couple sign and place you get 27-30 tops...they say you'll see, and we are wrong...I was looking for some kind of official verification myself

I think you're equating our situation with theirs. We can backcount 2 because we didn't sign our limit last year. I have no idea if there is a limit on the number you can backcount or not. If they can backcount 8, they can sign 33 and sign and place 3 more. Again I have no idea if there is a cap on the number you can backcount though.

UT can sign 25+ backcount 2 towards last year's signing limit+sign and place 3.

You're right...I wasn't thinking about that that was our situation. So I checked on AU

the Barn had 27 LOIs signed last year (28 in 08 class) we only signed 23 thats why we can back count 2 EEs. They had a full class for a number of years now, so now I really don't see where they get these numbers from

thanks for the reply and giving me a direction to look

Not all of those that signed LOIs may have qualified, some may also have been backcounted. I think some of their recruits failed to qualify from what I've heard but you'd have to find someone more knowledgeable about Auburn recruiting.

Edit: Okay according to what I found they can sign 25 this year, backcount 5, and sign and place 3 more. So they can get 30 on campus next fall but with sign and place brings them to 33 total.

The little kid that comes on here Aubie something claims that 9 or something did not qualify. I am not sure if there is a penalty for such things if that is true. But he acts like they can just backcount anyone. They have to be an EE to backcount them from my understanding. So he is saying they have 8 EEs? I would like to see him list them. I know of Newton so far.

They had 4 before Newton.

WOW, 11 EEs is crazy talk. But that still only gives Auburn 5...I think he means 33 with the 3 sign and place. However, who on there list is not likely to qualify?

I have no idea. I just searched and found that article.

The 11 Bama is crazy. I think 3 of their 11 are grey shirts.

Great thread; I can't remember all these numbers and need reminding and updates.

And if I see a thread that does look too rehashed for my tastes, I just don't venture there. Simple.
