It just occurred to me that (we) or any East team could potentially face the same team three times in a year especially if the playoff expands to twelve.
Let’s say Georgia, now that they are the dominant team of the East (could be any East team), have Bama on their regular season schedule. They lose but have to face them in the SECCG. With the 12 team playoff, they enter the playoff as a two loss team and have to face them yet a third time.
That could bring redundancy to the playoff. I do remember the BCS rematch of Bama and LSU in the NC game from those outside the SEC. Now with the SEC becoming a super conference, this could lead to SEC fatigue.
We all know with even a four team playoff two SEC teams can get in. I don’t see a need for 12 but do agree there needs to be more than four.
