Re: Committments to Date

No large speech here. Just data. Take a gander and debate (if you can find one).

The point of this is to show the commit dates. Notice that most of our early committments came in June or July. Most years we have equal to or the same committments as this year.

Also, remember that most of these classes were top 10.

I get tired of the ignorant posts/threads whining about our recruiting class in MAY. Give me a break. What guys are we after with serious interest that we are losing out on?

I think that most people look at Texas's recruiting class and see that they have like 20 guys committed to them in the spring, and wonder why we can't do that........

We (all people) tend to have a particular stance or opinion and then find facts that support it. The people complaining about recruiting in May are just betraying a bias against the current regime, and pointing to any facts that support that claim. Doesn't matter if they are out of context or irrelevant.

add to that Alabama has 11 and there you go. But winning titles helps out a ton.

I know. They were doing this last year when the "but I thought Kiffin and O were recruiting geniuses" crap started.

The purpose here is simple. Facts cannot be argued. This should be stickied, so every reasonable person on this board can respond to the sky watchers with a simple SU, and then copy and paste the link.

A lot of it has to do with how well other schools are doing, some have already assembled the better half of their class.

Mack Brown can afford to tell guys to poop or get off the pot in Texas. Plenty of talent to go around. If someone hesitates when Texas asks for a commitment....NEXT!

Nobody has "assembled" anything yet. Nobody. No LOIs have been signed by ANY RECRUIT. Could some of you folks that claim to be realists return to reality? Jeez!

With an attempt at being open minded to haters, ill say this... Looking at the facts you layed out, our football team hasnt done anything worth bragging about with those types of results. We need to get better results in the future, because what weve done lately isnt cuttin it!

chris loften signed to play football in 2004 as a wr?
He never signed, nor did UT recruit him to play football. Scout had him in their football database (by all accounts he was pretty good) and the fact that he signed for BB just landed him on both lists.

I've seen it before, just a weird bug (or laziness) where a two sport star signs with a school and it reads across the entire database.

Yes, we have only two recruits.

Wake up.
Regime change (again).
Just common sense talking here, but I'd assume that recruits would like to at least see a game or two of a prospective university, rather than just blindly committing, not know what they're getting into.

We have nine long months before NSD.
And look at how many commits we picked up last year who had already committed to a previous school.

You guys can bicker, worry, and whine, but I'm not worried about it. Wait until we pull an upset, or at least go bowling, and then we'll turn some heads. Right now, though? I'm not surprised the recruiting trail is a little cold.

This is just another example of an off-season thread. We're bored because NSD was three months ago, and we still have four months before football season. Let's settle down, now.

They have Ainge and Meachem as BB guys too.

There will be many commits change their minds before signing a LOI. Texas always has early signings because of in state talent. UF and Bammer had very successful seasons recently and kids want to get on board. Many will look at depth charts, playing time and other factors and change their minds before signing the LOI. We go through this every year and end up with a top 10 class most of the time. Those who are anti Dooley, just go cheer for somebody else until he leaves. He will be here for a long time.

Another thing jumps out at me when looking at those recruiting classes. There are a lot of 4 and 5 stars who faded into oblivion such as Mondre Dickerson, Aaron Kirkland, Brandon Jefferies, Heath Benedict, JaKourie Williams, Slick Shelly and more. On the other hand, some 2 and 3 stars have gone on to the next level and at least were consistent contributors to the team. Among them are Justin Harrell, Jonathan Hefney, Dan Williams, Luke Stocker, Eric Ainge and more. So the next complaint of the naysayers and Chicken Little crowd is if we sign some 3 stars, the sky will fall again.
