False start question

It was a stupidly bad call. This is the false start rule.

"It is a False Start if the ball has been placed ready for play, and, prior to the snap, an offensive player who has assumed a set position charges or moves in such a way as to simulate the start of a play, or if an offensive player who is in motion makes a sudden movement toward the line of scrimmage. Any quick abrupt movement by a single offensive player, or by several offensive players in unison, which simulates the start of the snap, is a false start."

The ball wasn't ready for play, the official was holding up the play for substitutions. We technically could have still subbed the entire team at that point. It's like the officials went brain dead.

I agree with you. But that doesn't answers my question. I"m questioning a rule I don't understand that's all.
I felt like they should have ruled that to be the ball not being ready for play. They have done that at least a few times this year that I've seen. I'm not sure what was different about that one honestly.

Thank you.

The only negative thing I will say is maybe the next time we are #1 maybe hold off a week to give our qb a mercedes and two other contracts. In the most important game week distractions should be kept minimal. Id say that was a mistake. There are times to do those things.

Might be good for former players who have radio shows to not say things like the GA stadium not being a tough place to play. EA should have known better.

Agreed. I also read on this board all week from many posters about how nervous and scared Kirby was and there was no way we’d score less than 50 points. Hope those individuals now realize humility is your friend.

I was wondering the same. The official on one false start was standing between C and QB. Seems like a crime.

The Mercedes was the day before the UK game. When it was reported and when it happened aren’t there same.

If a official is holding up play then why was a false start call on Crawford?
I think they clearly got that one wrong. That being said, I have no idea how it's even possible for a lineman to jump in that situation.

When they called 2 in a row in the second quarter I didn't see anyone jump on the replay either.

Not 100% sure, but think one was Keyton.,,# 80. In the replay, you could not see him in the picture.

The crowd noise caused many many problems. But, we won't see that again this season.

The crowd rocked the officials as much as the teams. They looked a little lost in 1st quater. Their inability to communicate should I not have cost us a penalty.

Officials that are concerned with getting the call right would have waved off that flag. Officials with less accountability keep playing the game.

Why did Crawford false start while the official was holding up the play? He clearly wasn't paying attention to the situation.
The officials voice caused him to flinch. Understandable considering the official was behind him

The jump was clear but the ref was still holding up the play. I don't see how a jump is possible before the ref starts the play. He stopped it, he must then restart it, anything in between is meaningless.
