I don't think I have ever tried one of these. Said to be similar to Scotch but can't call it that as its made over here. Y'all have any favorites? How do they compare price-wise ... more like a TN corn whiskey or a quite-nice Scotch? Balcones, Corsair, FEW, Hillrock Estate?

Stranahan's Diamond Peak is pretty good. It's still not quite the flavor I enjoy, though. I like the sweetness of bourbon.

I've been hoping you get more replies. Scotch is my poison of choice. I tend to favor the somewhat smoky and peaty varieties — Highland Park being my favorite, Oban's pretty good too, and I can even enjoy the more medicinal Islays as well. But I'm always interested in new directions and I've always wondered if there were American whiskies similar to scotch that weren't too sweet or bourbony (no offense, crusse :) ).

Looked that up, sounds interesting, I'll have to try that someday. They don't sell it anywhere close to me apparently, maybe next time I'm in TN.
