Why are the networks treating this like it's not a big deal?

Even Fox network is ignoring this story.

The only place you get full coverage is Foxnews.

It is extremely interesting stuff. If you are interested in the War on Terror, you have little choice to get your info but from Foxnews.

In watching the networks on this topic yesterday, it seemed some of them were actually upset that we got this thug. I thought Diane Sawyer was going to cry when they began reporting the news. I just don't understand why all Americans can't rejoice over this victory and show our brave brothers in arms the love they deserve.

If you have 2 or 3 service people do something outrageous, they cover it ad nauseam.

But when we have a victory they report it and move on with very little follow up detail.

It's a shame.

They should be ashamed.

Our military deserves better.

They should be cheering their accomplishments.

It is a great accomplishment, but I think everybody is trying to temper their enthusiasm a little bit as they await the inevitable retaliation.

I have noticed what you are talking about to some extent though. Anti-war sentiment is so high that there's never going to be any such thing as good news in some circles.

2:25 PM EST.

Fox News- Zarqawi
CNN- Blackberry Detox
MSNBC- Hamas will Not Honor Truce With Isreal
CNBC- Don't make or take cell calls during bad weather.

Interesting....maybe liberals and conservatives are being fed different news stories OWB.

IMO, citizens of the USA are not conditioned to rejoice in the death of any individual. Our culture celebrates concept of victory over a foe, but most of us are just not the kind of people who are going to spontaneously take to the streets and initiate jubilant parades because our side killed somebody on the other side.

Turn it to CNN now, you caught the 15 minutes of CNN that they haven't been covering it.

I keep forgetting that I'm posting with whipper snappers.

The Networks, are the 4 primarily free, thusly FCC accountable entities of ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX.

None of them have given anything aside from normal coverage past the morning shows on the day of Zarqawi's death.

I realize it isn't on the scale of 9/11, but on that date the nets covered non-stop for days, rightly so.

With this, the networks, FOX included treated this story like it was an aggravation to them.

I have to take all of your guys word for what MSNBC, CNN, and the other cable news stations are doing, because I only scan by them and move on to the one that interests me the most, which has been Foxnews, on this subject.

I doubt CNN has covered it to the extent Foxnews has, but I'll relent to those who stayed glued to CNN.

I just think the nets, which are all some folks get, especially in poor areas, and the boondocks where cable is not available.

I think they dropped the ball on this.

Our troops deserve a little hurrah on this.

Well no wonder OldVol, how are you going to who is giving it the most coverage if you just "scan" by them on your way to Fox? :D

It's a big story, but everyone ran it into the ground yesterday and there's really not that much to show. Old pics and vids of him, 2 bombs dropping on his house and a nice framed picture of his dead head that will probably be hung over Bush's bed with sconces and all.

Now, Hillbilly, that was GOOD.

The major networks: NBC (Nationally Brodcasting Communism), CBS (Communist Brodcast Service) and ABC (Americans Broadcasting Communism) as well as a couple of major cable news outlets like MSNBC (More Socialistic Nationals Broadcasting Communism) and the infamous CNN (Communist News Network) don't want any thing presented over the airways that might appear favorable to the current administration. They have to follow the pied-pipers of the "I feel your pain" clan.

These news (laugable term) organizations check to see what their Socialist Leaders (democratic party) wants broadcasted before reporting anything.

Fox appears, from my humble perspective, to be the ONLY news outlet worth watching.

Too bad you were an hour and half too late.. I don't really care what you think of CNN personally, but they've been showing plenty about it. So much that I'm tired of hearing about it unless they come up with something new.

I know you don't care, but personally CNN isn't what it used to be. It used to be a lot easier to watch. They very well might have been talking about it, but you should certainly have loved the spin they were putting on it. :whistling:

When it comes to the Bush Administration, there's no spin needed. They do it all to themselves.

It's the largest news story on CNN. Obviously a few people are showing a little bias and disgruntled opinions. Frankly FNC loves to shove anything down our throats that fluffs up the image of the current President. If THAT is not bias I have no clue what is.

As I said yesterday, a good friend of mine in Jerusalem says killing Zarqawi does nothing but offer justice for the people he personally killed and beheaded. Israelis have been killing heads of groups for decades and the crisis only gets worse. So fooling yourself into thinking that getting Zarqawi is worth a full day's press will only get you more heartbreak after even more people are killed because of this. This whole thing pisses me off more that we can do so much to go after a guy we managed to create AFTER we invaded Iraq, but the guy responsible for 9/11 is still running around making audio tapes and his deputy is still making video tapes.

There's a lot of other news going on even in our own country. Remember how Arlen Specter was going to take Cheney out behind the woodshed on the whole NSA deal? Well the new news story is that he's submitting legislation offering blanket amnesty on whatever the WH is doing....we have no clue what it is but we want to offer them amnesty?

No crap... between multiple pronounciations of his name, his life story, and how he died, I could use a famine of al-Zarqawi coverage...

The main thing I don't like about the coverage is that Osama's dead mug isn't laying next to Zarqawi's dead ugly mug!!

dang oldvol, all I've seen on the news is this story. But, even according to Fox News, the administration has played this down. There'll be someone to take his place soon, plus with the Iraqi government seemingly falling into place, this could have a negative impact, i.e. an escalation in the guerilla warfare our troops are facing, more death to innocent Iraqi citizens, etc. Sometimes it's just better to lay low I guess. The man does look good dead though.

First of all, you must be joking, Ive seen nothing but wall to wall coverage of this. If you are implying that we should have seen an interuption of regular broadcasting for breaking coverage then I think that is a little much to ask. Secondly, FOXnews is not the same as abc news, cbs news, and nbc news because it is not a broadcast network but rather a CABLE network just like MSNBC, so I dont see your point? Are you implying that the Networks should give the same coverage to a story as an around the clock news channel?
