I may finally feel "appreciated" when the inevitable announcement is made

The number of people that will go to this thing will be pretty sad.....the players and coaches will be there standing around and waiting for people to come.....other than a youth baseball team or two and 10 true fans there won't be anybody there

The marketing office has fielded about 300 calls on the event already, so I'm going to say you're wrong on that one.

Yeah I doubt that. The Vols had a winning season last year, and gave fans a reason to be optimistic while Georgia Bulldogs hard to be optimistic with the awful season they had.

You can't be serious....we fell apart at the end of the year and we've lost a TON of talent off of last year's team.....seems that you're a big Raleigh fan.....TR has shown NOTHING in his tenure here.....NOTHING

There's NO optimism for this year.....that's why the banquet was cancelled.....Brent Hubbs of Volquest said there just wasn't any interest for the banquet....that says a lot......a HUGE state of apathy for the program right now

Fell apart. In the 2nd half other than some other SEC team the Vols were one of the best teams in the 2nd half. Hard to say they fell apart at the end of the year when the Crimson Tide needed extra innings to beat the Vols in the 2nd game to get the final spot in the SEC Tournament.

The Vols still got Josh Liles, Zack Osborn, Khayyan Norfork, Chris Fritts, and Matt Duffy. Yeah they lost talent but it's not like the Vols have only one fantastic player returning.
Also they got a player that decided to play for the Vols instead of go to the Pros.

Nothing. Hello 2009 they had a losing record, 2010 they had a winning record. So to say he's done nothing is inaccurate.

What's the good of a winning record without making the SEC or NCAA Tournament? COME ON MAN!

And yes those guys you mentioned will be pretty solid.....but how about on the mound?

When was the last time the Vols had a winning record. Yeah it sucks they did not make the tournament but the fact that the Vols team were one hit from beating the Crimson Tide in extra innings, and likely could have beat them in game 3 to make the SEC Tournament hard not to be optimsitc. The Vols after a poor first half including the SEC could have just gave up but they didn't, and had a terrific 2nd half with the final series of the game agaisnt the Crimson Tide was not for pride but to get into the SEC Tournament.

It's going to be hard having lost more than one strong pitcher but it's not like it will be impossible.

Went to fan day this morning with my son and we had a blast. the players were really nice, the new facilities were first class. Even took some BP in the new cages. I'm not sure what the season holds, but for 1 day, all was great in the new Lindsey Nelson Stadium. I'll post some pics later if anyone would like to see.

Hubbs was completely wrong on that and got it from a "source" that had no idea what was really going on. The high-profile speaker cancelled two days before UT had to finalize to committment to the Convestion Center. They couldn't get someone else in time to meet the Convention Center's deadline. There were several people that had already purchased tables for the event. Interest in it was definitely there.

In any event, you should have come out this morning, there were several hundred there, and it was a really great opportunity for kids to get around the program.

Whatever your opinion of CTR, there are still 30 men that put on the Orange and White that deserve your support.

If we would have won 2 more SEC games we would have been in the SEC tourney last year....now that's correct....but we didn't win them both.....we lost them both....a lot of teams can say things about if they would've won 2 more games in their season things would've been much different

We had something like a 1.5 game lead for 8th place with 6 to play and ended up losing 5 of 6....we fell apart at the end of the year.....there's no denying that

When I look at Raleigh's 3 year tenure I see NO trips to either the SEC or NCAA Tournament.....and 1 winning season out of 3....that's DREADFUL

Didn't realize there were TR apologists out there

And Deer.....I DO support all the players....I'd love to see the program succeed

Dreadful yeah it's dreadful if you expect microwave results. 2010 is a huge imrpovement from 2009 including a winning record, and a better division record. That's progress, and I think in 2011 they will win more games than they did in 2010, have a winning division record, and will make it into the SEC Tournament.

No if UGA won two more games they would still be a awful team. Beside UT is there any other team that had a poor first half including the division, a terrific 2nd half including in division games plus in the final series had a chance to make it into the division tournament.

12-18 is still pretty bad in the SEC, no matter what way you look at it....we finished 10th out of 12 if I remember right....UK finished a slot ahead of us

I can't deny they still had a poor losing division record but it's better than it was it was last year.
Kentucky finished one game better than the Vols, and still lost the series to worst team in the SEC the UG Bulldogs.

Ya know, I appreciate the optimism, but this team was not even close to being successful last season. They finished a solid 10th in the conference only because 2 teams were embarrassingly bad.

There is no indication (except for Raleigh's statements) that pitching will be better. I think the coach is hanging his hat on pitching improvement to save his job because he knows offence (due to new bats) will be down. Then he can tell the AD who knows nothing about baseball that he improved the pitching.

Since being here, he has replaced great players with lesser players. He has replaced mediocre talent with poor talent.

There is nothing about the teams performance the last three years that is better than the program under prior underperforming regime. He had uberqualified coaches and canned them in favor of inexperienced yes men or coaches with more self-promotion skills than Div. 1 experience.

We have a better stadium but the worst head coach we could have to sell it.

The newer NCAA rules that limited transferring have actually saved his skin and gave him this 4th year.

The only ray of light I see on the team is Andrew Toles who has more orange blood in his veins than anyone with his father and uncle as some of my all-time favorite footballers. Ayers Hall and Neyland Stadium played more of a role in his signing that Cap'n Chaos.

I keep saying I will not attend games this season, but I have to. I seemingly spent half of my life at the stadium.

But, this Division 1 program is being killed by this Div. 4 head coach and I am not happy. We could tell he was an idiot at the introductory press conference. Now that "his guys" are here. (evident his guys = Div 2 talent) he has not excuse once the team tanks again. Maybe for once, he'll look at himself as blame instead of the dozens of guys he has run off.

I'm sure you're a player or relative of a player but we have all seen this jackass' performance the last 3 seasons, and last year could NEVER be considered a success.

Once the team tanks again. The team has not tanked because the season has not started, and with Josh Liles, Chris Fritts, Zack Osborne, Matt Duffy returning there is more light there. Also a player that could have gone to MLB but is now playing for the Vols.

Comapred to 2006-2009 the 2010 is the the most success they have had a long time.
Not even close. I recall they were a hit away from beating I think LSU. They could not make the critical plays to win close games in division losses.

I'm excited to see Toles play.

Strong comments about him from Raleigh:

Andrew Toles, like I said, is as talented as anybody that has ever been in this program.
