ummmmm....did anyone ever tell him ( I know it's hard to accept in this world), but.....LIFE IS NOT FAIR! Is anyone twisting his arm to stay/go to UGa? Larry Winget has a book out named 'You're Broke Because You Want to Be'....read it.

Sure, life isn't fair. Given his role on the team, it's pretty much bull**** that he's paying his own way though.

After reading the father's statement, I agree with him. Sounds like Smart is trying to be a jerk like Saban without the same results.

Eh.... Blankenship hasn't exactly looked like a scholarship caliber player at his position.

Mother in law is a UGA fan so I've seen plenty of his kicks this season.

I dunno... If Kirby doesn't value the kicking game, perhaps that Achilles heel will give the Vols an edge in future games.

I have no idea whether Ga has a scholarship available to give the young man but KS' public relations will take a beating over this. Any self-created turmoil he can manufacture is fine with me.

Simple, Wait until the fall semester and transfer to another school that will give a scholarship. Win for the family and us.:)

Did you see the guy before him? I've watched almost all their games, and he was horrendous. Smart should be thanking God for Blankenship, without him they'd probably lost a couple more at least. I forgot the other guys name, but he was even missing ep's.

This is idiotic...take off your orange tinted glasses, Blankenship is a high caliber kicker...big leg, fairly accurate too.

He already looks better than Medley does now. Certainly deserving of a scholarship. Just goes to show how similar Kirby Smart is to his mentor. Will do practically anything to get an extra scholarship player, even if it means screwing over said player.

Plus you have to keep in mind... their LONG SNAPPER, the HOLDER, the BACKUP HOLDER, the PUNTER, and the BACKUP PUNTER...ALL HAVE SCHOLARSHIPS...but the starting kicker/place-kicker isn't worth one?

His father may be wrong for calling out Georgia and putting added pressure on his son, but he's definitely got a point. How can you miss putting your kicker on scholarship, especially when you have so many other specialists on scholarship? I'd be thinking about a transfer ASAP if I were Blankenship.

Yep. There were lots of rumors of upperclassmen being completely turned off on his coaching and how he treated the players going into the season. It sounds like Kirby will be a poison to the program.

To be fair, the holder is Eason, and back up holder and backup punter is same person ( b. ramsey, who is really 3rd string QB. He was supposed to be QB of future but didn't pan out). It's not exactly like 5 other scrubs get a ride but Blankenship doesn't. The truth is, he is a bit of a head case, had an above average half season and I don't blame Kirby for being hesitant to commit to giving him a scholarship yet. The dad trying to squeeze Kirby with the media is a dumb move and won't work. The second coming of Sebastian Janakowski he is not. Would help if he could actually kick the ball to the endzone on ANY kickoff. Now that Carlson kid at Auburn.....that's a kicker you give a scholarship to. He is legit.

The kid was named William Hamm and was really just a student brought in to try to help since Blankenship was doing so poorly this summer. Hamm actually won the job but was obviously in over his head. He has gone back to just being a student. I wish him well.

that guy was a walk on also (last name was Ham) -- I dont think they have any kickers on scholarship yet -- but yeah I saw him miss badly before being replaced

Hey Joevol, I see you were up early to enjoy all of our snow. I hope you survive this frozen hell on earth. :)

These Weather people can't ever get it right. If this is 5 to 6 inches, I'm walking around with my chest puffed out a little more today.
