Hey y'all. I am a little late in posting this but this my birthday gift from my wife from last year. She knew Craig Faulkner is my favorite VOL of all time and had the Faulkner name added. I proudly wore it to the Kentucky game last year. I am going to a UGA vs TENN party this weekend and thought Id wear it. GBO!

He hurt his wrist in a motorcycle accident the summer before his senior season. It affected him some, but he was quite the guy. He reminded me of a great Vol WR from long ago...Larry Seivers (Google him).

Yep. I read this injury is what kept him from the NFL. Seivers was a hell of a receiver too but before my time. GBO!

I remember Faulkner used to constantly tell the media types that he wasn't a possession receiver because he hated people thinking of him as being slow (and he wasn't) just because he was white. He was a good tough player and a deep threat back when we had a qb who could throw the deep ball and Shuler threw a better deep ball in college than Manning...I have to ask though, did you know him? Faulkner is kind of a nondescript guy especially of all our WR's to think of as your all time fave. Sort of like saying Paul Yatkowski is your all time fave DT.

Nope. I do not know him or have ever met him. I do wish to one day get him to sign a jersey or football for me. He is my favorite VOL because of what you said. A tough player, great hands, speed, and deep threat.
I had started playing HS football when he was at Tennessee and tried to model my play after his. I was about his same build and was pretty fast for a white boy. :) I also liked to go over the middle because none of the other guys on my team did. Faulkner made a name for himself by going over the middle and hanging on to the ball, even if he took a big shot from the D. He also had the speed to beat you deep. I respect that and that's why he is my favorite VOL.

He was riding with Carl Pickens when he had that accident...Craig announced that he wasn't going to play his senior season because the recovery from the broken bones in his wrist was tougher than he had thought but then had a change of heart when the season drew near. He asked Fulmer if he would be welcomed back and Fulmer told him "Sure, if you sell the motorcycle."...since it is Georgia week, it is relevant to say that my all time favorite Tennessee regular season victory was Georgia in '92 and Shuler to Faulkner was a huge tandom that day (also Corey Fleming's strip). That game changed the course of Tennessee football in the '90's. Without it, Fulmer doesn't become such a coveted interim head coach and we are likely saddled with Majors for the rest of the decade after his return from bypass surgery. Fulmer would have eventually taken a head coaching job somewhere else and taken Cutcliffe and Chavis with him. Peyton Manning would probably not have been a Vol in that scenario either. Shuler also made the quarterback position glamorous at Tennessee, beginning that day which made it so much easier to recruit Manning later.

He's married to my cousin here in pigeon forge. He helps coach the north view football team. We work together at the old mill. I could hook you up with that signature!

Reminded you of Larry Seivers? Really? Seivers was tall, lanky and slow but had the best hands of any UT receiver in history. Faulkner was short and fast. Had good hands too.

Maybe it's because they both were white?

I remember seeing Seivers in the Liberty Bowl against Maryland when I was a kid. Great receiver. Faulkner was a clutch receiver.
