I like this list...and one I'd add to it is A Christmas Carol but not the remakes, the original one made in black and white starring Alistair Sim.

Christmas Vacation and Home Alone (original)

As for a new one I love watching Polar Express with my daughter. I believe it's a future Christmas classic in waiting.

I saw Polar Express on Imax in 3D. That was well done in 3D.

It used to be A Christmas Story and I still hold a soft spot for it but I have to say that National Lampoons Christmas Vacation has overtook it for the #1 spot in my book.

Some of my other favorites:

A Christmas Carol - different versions but the old Reginald Owen version is a favorite.

Santa Claus - The 1985 movie with John Lithgow and Dudley Moore. I don't know why I like it so much but I've always been a big fan of this movie. Maybe its because its not overplayed to death over the holidays and usually is quite hard to catch.

Scrooged - Bill Murray doesn't like this movie but I like him in it. Just an over the top fun and crude movie.

Non movie favorites:

Married with Children - I like all of their Christmas specials they done. The first, and probably most famous, with the one where Santa gets slam dunked into their backyard when his parachute doesn't open is hilarious to this day. I don't know how they got away with that back in 88 or whenever it played first. Also the Its a Bundyful Life two parter with Sam Kinison was a great holiday episode. Little trivia there - do you all know that Kinison was the original pick to play Al Bundy? And the original pick for Peggy was Roseanne Barr.

Also like the 70's Show Christmas from the first season when Red is working at Bob's store and Eric steals the tree from the highway to have more money for beer.

There's a ton more but that's enough for now...

Both Home Alone I and II are great for the holidays too, as well as Christmas Vacation. I've never seen It's a Wonderful Life. I always have it in my plans to getting around to watching it over Christmas, but never do.
