Combined last year and this year they have signed 3 total Defensive Linemen. 1 DE and 2 DTs in two recruiting cycles.

Zero defensive linemen in this cycle. That has to catch up with them at some point. In addition Taven Bryan went pro.

Chris Rumph was straight garbage recruiting DTs. Even with all the high draft picks we had on the DL from urban and muschamp that sorry ass mfer didn’t land one stud in 3 years smh it’s a truly amazing feat with all he had to sell those kids with NFL draft success and then as those all left early playing time

The only four star he got in 3 YEARs was a guy rated 89 Elijah Concliffe which is barely a four star. Absolutely ****ing pathetic smh

He did ok at DE nothing special but as we all know if u wanna win the sec title you need absolute studs on your DL esp in the middle

From what I hear he was hired by Tennessee so good luck with that lazy ass mfer

He was a good coach tho I’ll give him that but he had so much to sell to kids and could not land anybody even close to elite

I will say this tho Mac had a whole staff of lazy mfers and I think it kind of rubbed off on the staff but he kind of stunk it up recruiting at Texas too from what I heard

Fortunately we’ve got a DC that recruits like crazy along with a defensive HC that recruits like crazy. I’ll bet that works out great with how well Rumph coaches.

By the way we signed 4 DTs this cycle. This will catch up with the Gators. More two seasons out than next season.

It was still astonishing how bad he was

DL 3 of these of these guys were first picks 4 were first team all sec I believe the others were picked up later but left too early Brantley had first or second rd potential but him and mcal

Shariff Floyd
Dom Easley
Dante Fowler
Jon Bullard
Caleb Brantley
Alex Mccalister
Bryan Cox

DB is even more rediculous

Matt Elam -first
Vh3 - first
Keanu Neal- first
Marcus Maye -second
Quincy Wilson - second
Brian Poole - UDF who has become beast at nickel for ATL

And I still feel like I’m forgetting 1 or 2 oh yea duh Tabor 2nd rd pick and Jarred Davis first rd pick first tm all sec

What is your opinion on how your DL will be moving forward this coming year and next.

Maybe serviceable could be bad I really don’t know

We going to 3-4 Grantham is far better then Shannon

TJ Slaton is ideal fit for NG in that scheme 6’5”

Still really need to land this guy cuz u big backup for those 360 lbers

Noah Jefferson, Arizona Western College, Defensive Tackle

LB who knows could be solid if they get cece jefferson to drop weight and put him at Jarvis Landry spot

Jachai Polite is a really good player imo Zuniga is petty solid we. frick to

Can’t type essay now lol too busy

Ok, so I agree with much of what you have done on this thread but if you're holding out for Grantham to be better than Shannon, mark my words here, you WILL be disappointed. While he was at UGA, we had a saying called "Third and Grantham" because his defense couldn't get off the field in long third down situations in critical times. I personally think he is one of the worst DCs in the SEC at the moment.

We continually saw defenders standing on the field pre-snap with their hands in the air because they couldn't figure out his defensive calls more often than not. We were excited when Mullen hired him in the offseason at MSU since UGA was playing MSU last year. And he definitely isn't the be all to end all at recruiting. Gets some good ones and loses quite a few others. I think if he could get back to the NFL he would leave in a second.

This is probably why we have both Rocker and Rumph on staff.

Say what you want but he had miss st and Louisville ranked relatively high in total defense last 2 or 3 years I believe

And I’m not sure if u know this about Shannon he never rushes EVER it’s his front four and that’s it at least Grantham is creative in bringing blitzes whether he too much or not I’ll take too much over never

Got say Im very happy with what Mullen pulled off in a month or so

To get the 14th rated class with only 15 commits and an average recruit rating just over 90

Florida 2018 Football Commits

Emory Jones
Kyle Pitts
Dameon Pierce
Amari Burney

Those are top guys ratings wise

Also can’t forget we’ll have this guy eligible next year a highly rated OT transfer from Texas

Jean Delance, Florida, Offensive Tackle

Not to mention they keep saying Van Jefferson has decent chance of getting waiver to play in 2018 if he does he’ll have 2 years left and would be one of if not our best WR
