Favre Thinking About Coming Back?

I will view this as false until proven otherwise, unprofessional newspapers like the Times publish anonymous stories with bodies of evidence based on loose conjecture all the time.

Like others, I think this is editorial garbage. However, if this does turn out to be true, and Favre either negotiates with other teams to try to come back or he actually does come back, I am completely washing my hands of Favre.

I feel almost that strongly about that as you do. It's not the ending I want to see from a guy a admire. As much as I hate the cowboys, watching Emmitt go play for Arizona was almost as painful as watching Montana play for KC. Retire, make an emotional speech, cry if you must, and leave gracefully. Do that, and you've proven that money is NOT bigger than the game to you. Not saying it was for those other guys, it's just not the story book ending we want from heros.

It's bad enough that Favre held the Packers hostage for the last 4-5 seasons, not even letting them know until after the NFL Draft whether he would grace them with his presence for yet another season.

Easy there, Cochise. Emmitt and Joe did not exactly retire from the Cowboys and 49ers, respectively. They lost their jobs due to injury and felt they could still contribute elsewhere.

Emmitt's tenure at Arizona was not that impressive. However, Joe led the Chiefs to the playoffs in both years (13 regular season wins in 1993 and an appearance in the AFC Championship game.)

Neither Emmitt Smith nor Joe Montana lost their jobs at Dallas and San Francisco, respectively, due to injury. They lost their jobs, but neither one of them lost their jobs because of an injury.

Montana hurt his elbow in a losing effort to the Giants in the NFC Championship game following the '90 season. He missed the entire next season. That's when Steve Young took over. He was playing at a pretty high level his last season, so really the injury was what ended his time in San Francisco.
