FBI sting

why do you always post half truths/speculative stuff? I feel like you know the truth and just post this crap as clickbait.

Adidas has been caught, but Nike hasn't been hit with anything serious as of yet. And the ones that have gotten in trouble have gotten VERY VERY lightly.

Media reports/commentators have said that as many "as 30 schools could be involved". Now, I know the media can distort things but the list is moving toward that with what we know and that isnt near as much as the FBI has, again, according to Coaching/media. I find it very difficult to believe only Adidas was doing this or something similar. You really think that only schools with adidas were giving money to players? Isnt LSU a Nike School?

Feel free to ignore me.

No, but with what has come out, with the minimal punishments and no direct Nike involvement, why do you think it's going to suddenly change now?

I think you're getting a tad confused as to what all is involved in the "Adidas" case. Adidas is only one part of a much larger issue. The agents / financial advisors are the ones who touched the greatest number of schools. The wire tap that caught Will Wade was with a fledgling agent, not with anyone from Adidas or any other apparel company. That fact that LSU is a Nike school doesn't, in any way, indicate that Nike was doing what Adidas is alleged to have done.

Maybe but I wonder where the $ for the LSU payments has come from. I don’t think Wade could afford all of the players he claimed to have “done deals before” without money coming from somewhere outside of LSU AD. Auditors can catch that in 15 minutes. Auburn isn’t an Adidas school either but they’re neck deep in this thing. Why is everyone so convinced Nike is pure as the virgin snow?

When in doubt, assume it was a booster.

Of course it didn't come out of the AD's coffers.

You are way too hung up on Adidas' involvement. Again, they were but a small part of this entire cluster. It's not a scenario where a shoe company was involved in every situation. Like you said, Auburn had coaches mixed up, but there is no serious implication that Under Armor was funneling money to any Auburn players.

No one is dismissing the possibility that other companies might be involved, but most of us are willing to wait for evidence, or even a serious accusation.

I don’t have that many details but am assured 50 people were arrested in FBI sting. Wake Forrest was named as one of the potential schools who could receive the death penalty. It is the largest cheating scandal in sports history. I haven’t read any articles and was hopeful volnation could post updates to this thread. I’m told UCLA, Stanford and Yale... yes Yale have all been caught red handed. Look for more arrests today.

There is no death penalty any longer for athletic delartments. After SMU, I believe, it was decided the death penalty was too severe for schools to re-emerge.
