I'll pull for Georgia Southern only because I live so close and have a few GSU alum friends

I wish the Ivy League would drop that stupid rule that prevents them from participating in postseason football. I think Penn could do well this year, if they had the chance.

sorry but GS won't get out of Williamsburg

same was said when Appy came a callin in statesboro.

We shall see, I love the playoffs

Even if we dont, Coach Monken did outstanding in his first season. Move back to the option, beat the 2 biggest rivals, and made it to playoffs. Things are looking up in Statesboro

I actually don't think W&M is that good. Saw them play earlier this year and they're beatable

If we can play "our game," long sustained drives, control of the clock/running game, keep 3rd down to small yardage, we will be alright. Also determinate on the health of Jaybo

What reason do they give for this stupid mentality?

In the words of the Ivy League office, "We believe that our student athletes should aspire to achieve excellence. However, we feel that postseason play in football is not consistent with these values. We want to keep the focus on the student part of the phrase 'Student Athlete', and thus, postseason football does not put focus on the 'student' part, but rather the 'athlete' part"

That's a rough paraphrase, but in short, the league feels it isn't consistent with the idea behind the founding of the league. Sucks too, because there have been some really good teams that played in the Ancient Eight.

(FYI, I root for the Ivy League in general, although I find myself going for Harvard and Princeton more out of the bunch though)

You would think a bunch of people as supposedly as intelligent as a group of Ivy League graduates would be smart enough to realize just how ridiculous a position that is. Take Greg McElroy... dude is a finalist to be a Rhodes Scholar... and Alabama played, and won, in the BCS Title Game last year. :whistling:

Ivy League takes education more important than glorified high school football?

Say it isn't so.

Say it isn't so.

There's been Ivy League teams that were competitive before and it's ridiculous to think that a bunch of D1 Football Players who were smart enough to get into an Ivy League school can't balance their time enough to handle a couple additional games.

But they are ok with postseason basketball?
