I’m amazed something hasn’t been developed that works up until now.

Who says it hasn't ?? Tin foil hats say it's waiting it's turn till they exhaust the current money flow.

Same with cancer...american medical technology doesn't have a cure for not even ONE type of cancer, after all these years.

My guess is that the technology exists to cure many many diseases. The problem is, if the drug companies can treat the symptoms forever without offering a cure, which would they do?

Having worked with scientists doing drug discovery for almost 2 decades I can tell you this conspiracy theory isn't true. Researchers are not discovering cures only to have the quashed or not taken up by Pharma companies.

Hep C is an example of how Pharma brought forward a cure versus the older treatments that lasted about a year and also created markets for the complications' treatments

You may be correct, but as someone that has a chronic disease that can essentially be made symptom free by a nice monthly shot that costs about $6k a dose, I have my doubts.

You gotta have something that can touch old people (aka elected officials) in the blink of an eye and strike them down in days (aka Covid). Then watch all the red tape fall away.
