On this day back in 1913 the 16th Amendment to our Constitution was ratified, granting "Congress the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration". :bad:

The founding fathers prohibited the federal government from taxing income and this amendment was sold using class envy, it was to tax those evil rich people that were not paying their share. Once the fed got their foot in the door with this one, income tax percentages proceeded to increase and were followed by the Social Security tax on income and the Medicare tax on income. IMHO, with the power to tax income, the federal government got the upper hand on the states and the citizens, a process which began during the Civil War, but was further advanced by this amendment.

On the plus side, on this day back in 1870, the 15th Amendment was ratified, stating that "the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude". :good!:

So on what logical basis are the lawmakers in 1913 less intelligent than the lawmakers in 1787?

Wrong question. It is not a matter of levels of intelligence, but rather of motivation. The results of both choices speak for themselves loudly throughout our history. But you go right ahead and send your paycheck on in to the Fed. With the way they are running up the deficit, they will be happy to accept your donation. :good!:

Ok, I'll go with this.

Name some of the motivation of the "founding fathers". You know, the rich, slave-owning, tax-dodging aristocracy who wrote the Constitution.

I don't waste my time in political discussions with brainwashed fools who just want to argue.

Keep throwing out the bait, but you're angling for the wrong fish.

I'm not angling for anything, other than observing how people think/reason.

I think you misunderstand my motivation. But I am still curious as to how you came to the strong assumption that I'm brainwashed. This is your claim, not mine. If that is bait, you tossed it, not me.

Perhaps you should spend some of that observation time on how you think and reason.
