UPDATED 9:40 AM PT – Thursday, March 4, 2021

More than 100 children are recovered following a coordinated effort by federal authorities in Tennessee. During a press briefing on Wednesday, the the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) announced the latest developments in Operation Volunteer Strong working with state and federal resources.

The operation, which began back in fall of 2020, was able to locate 150 missing children of the 240 identified missing children across the state. The children range from three to 17-years old.

Authorities said several children were potential human trafficking victims and at least one other had been kidnapped. Currently, two people in connection to the operation have outstanding warrants while the kidnapping suspect has been arrested.

your snipit here makes it sound like most of them were held by one person/small group. is that right?

Puzzling that there is no mention of arrests.
It seems like the overwhelming majority were runaways?

From the original article:

Whatever happened, I’m glad that these kids were identified and given the chance to re-establish ties with family.

No doubt it’s a good thing. I still would like to know more.

I think most people assume there were 150 kids in a cargo container. Most of these were individual cases, accumulated over a year of work.
I think most people just want to know more. As a parent I tune in a little closer to these types of stories.

Obviously, you want to protect your child and be aware of dangers, but fear sells and they tell you accurate statistics that make you the most afraid, while another truth is there are accurate statistics that will give you comfort.

The overwhelming majority of children who are reported in statistics as missing are runaway teens, not kidnapped children. Most of them come home on their own.

The overwhelming majority of children who are kidnapped are taken by a family member.

Only something like 90 kids a year are kidnapped by a stranger. So we hear whatever the stat is about zillions of missing children and we picture stranger danger kidnappings, but that's not what's happening at all.

Also, a large number of runaway teens are being abused at home and were the victims of trafficking at home, which is why they often turn to traffickers as runaways. A lot of these statistics are lose/lose situations for the kid, and it's really sad.

All good information. Just want more details from the media and LE. If there was family involvement I suspect there would be guilty people getting charged. I just feel the article left off a large chunk of pertinent information.
