Right now I would just settle for our President making a public statement expressing condolences for those whose lives were affected by the flooding.

God knows he would have jumped on that opportunity if this was New Orleans

yeah, his response hasn't been good. i expect more

Hasn't been good, or there really hasn't been one?

I haven't really paid much attention to that end of it.

I have not heard much backlash from middle TN toward the federal government to this point. Im sure it has happened in some form, and im sure it will come more in the future.

Those that I know, just started cleaning up the mess and moving on with what they have. Some people are different that way.

I never took much stock or felt that at times like this the president necessarily had to say anything. All they usually do is give a generic "heart-felt" plea for everyone to help their neighbors, praising law enforcement and first responders and offer federal assistance... always happened. To me, it just takes away slightly from the tragedy and brings the spotlight on the potus.

Not really anything I would loose any sleep over.

There's been a response, just not really a public one. I believe Obama gave the OK for federal funds, but that's about all I've seen.

Let's see:

--If since he doesn't jet down here you all fault him for not responding because he lost Tennessee.

--If he did jet down here and make a special tour you would fault him for exploiting the tragedy and getting in the way of real relief efforts.

Either way you would complain about what he does.

What else is new?

I fully realize it is a generic response. He is still the President. All this has done is strengthen every belief I have about him.

Obama not making any public statement or anything really doesn't bother me in the least. Let's face the reality this was more of a localized disaster in an area where the people are more apt to be self sufficient and as individuals answer the call to help neighbors.

The fact that it hasn't spiraled into a disaster that requires the presidents attention and focus speaks well about the people in these areas, JMO.

And regardless of what he does you'll never criticize him and get all pissy about any criticism of him.

Sound about right?

Nashville is pretty tore up. The economic impact is big and a lot of people are out of their homes and will be for a long time. People went about their business, helped one another. They also didn't swim through the stores looting. I guess it just wasn't news worthy.
