Fedora, Tressel, Butch, & Petrino

Wrong, Petrino can beat SEC teams.

How many conference titles did he win? How many national titles has he coached in? How have his recruiting classes ranked?

Like I said, Tressel is better. He beat Petrino's SEC team didn't he?

Thanks...what was I thinking...

At this point, Hart should call the Grudenator and give him whatever he wants.

6 mil...done
5 mil for assistants....done
Illustreous Potentate of all things football...done
Turn the Sunsphere into a Gruden super apartment...done
70 fresh virgins delivered monthly...done

Gotta think Petrino is the best on that list and if it weren't for his off the field issues Vols fans would be ecstatic about him. If he's approached, they might need to pull a "Cowboys/Dez Bryant" situation and have him monitored 24/7

WTF? This is the best list so far, I'm in for Petrino.

I would take Petrino over all of the other names, to include Gruden. Petrino has proven that he can come in and turn a program around. His player do not care too much for him, however they respect him.

It is not like he created a NCAA violation, he made some mistakes and I believe that he probably has learned from them. Those that are throwing stones about his charecter probably should take a long hard look in the mirror.

I would rank them Davis, Kangol (Fedora), Tressel, and Petrino. Not on coaching ability but on likelyhood of us getting them.

Hart should NOT allow himself to get jerked around by Strong/Louisville. He should give Strong a deadline and if no decision, you move to the next candidate--especially because we could probably hire either Petrino or Davis. That's a pretty strong duo of fallback candidates, no? In fact, I'd hire one of those two RIGHT NOW. Maybe Hart has given Strong a deadline of today--I certainly wouldn't give him past 4:00 today. I like Strong's credentials--but I'd rather have Petrino, frankly. It's America--everybody gets a second chance--especially in this business.

.........Seriously?

In my opinion what he did says way more about his character than an NCAA violation.

Wont be Petrino, Davis or Tressel. I dont know much but can guarantee guys with violations, show causes and personal issues wont be coaching UT.

In which case, Butch Davis could be coaching. Clean record as coach at UM and UNC.

Petrino was my #1 pick from the beginning. He is the only coach out of all that have been listed from the beginning that can throw down toe to toe with Saban and Miles.

Are you kidding me OP, this list is the strongest one Ive seen since Dooley was fired!! All of these coaches mentioned are HOME RUN HIRES!! TN fans need to quit being soft and such little wimps..."ooooh he did something bad and is trouble...we are the bible belt...stay away from that guy". We need one of these coaches people...the truth hurts! We are in desperation mode...desperate times call for desperate measures....which would be to hire any of these 4 guys...SMARTEN UP!!

HONOR THY VOLS...CHERISH THEM...

Petrino won't get a sniff from Hart, so he is automatically out of the picture. Of the remaining ones, even with Tressel's mistake, he would be the best fit and probably the cheapest. Davis is a heck of a coach, but the UNC stigma is strong with him (even though UNC has been giving out free grades way before he got there). I don't know enough about Fedora to know how good a fit he'll be.

All excellent coaches, but only one person on the list is totally in the clear, two can not be hired, one is a question mark.

Petrino: No major college administrator (particularly in the SEC) will touch him this year. Noone is judging him on his personal issues, but he brought that ish into the university by hiring his squeeze. This exposed the university to several wicked lawsuits, which most university presidents will not brush off. He can't be touched. Period.

Tressel: Can't be hired without fear of additional NCAA sanctions, which they would not announce until after you hire him. Can't be touched. Period. Move along.

Davis: Innocent so far, but noone is sure he won't have further issues down the road. I have not seen or heard of any official NCAA pronoucement of his innocence yet. Until then, I'm not sure. I would probably not have qualms about hiring him -- after due diligence, of course.

Fedora: No known issues. Hire the man.
