March Madness: U.S. Gov't Spent More Than Eight Times Its Monthly Revenue | CNSnews.com

this is crazy. all you liberals who think this is good for American and will help our economy are truly clueless.

Why is this aimed at liberals? You do know that the Federal Government spent more than it took in during the Bush years, correct?

This is an issue that reaches across the aisles. Until the Defense Budget is materially trimmed back, then any conservatives that call out liberals for spending are simple hypocrites.

the defense budget is nothing compared to the social spending. I agree, Bush spent alot and they paid for it in 2007.

However, you don't see the dems doing anyting. your liberal party isn't doing anything to stop the out of control spending now. the republicans are trying to curb spending.

Shut it down i say

Again, when the GOP controlled the Legislative and Executive Branches, they did not curb social spending. They postured pretty strongly with regard to Social Security, but never pulled that trigger.

Until the GOP demonstrates that their aim is anything greater than political posturing, then conservatives are showing great hypocrisy in calling liberals out for spending.

i believe that's why you see the tea party. bc the repub's liked to spend almost as much as the left.

i don't understand this logic. cutting spending is cutting spending. increasing spending is increasing spending. does it really matter where it comes from? i agree the defense budget has areas that can be cut, but i'm happy someone is at least talking about curtailing spending.

Cutting or not cutting is a direct reflection of the voting ground you stand on.

the current dem argument seems to be "why cut anything if you aren't cutting defense." makes no sense. every dime counts. it's like the couple whose house is 300K underwater, but thinks cutting the cable bill doesn't matter.

I'll be happy when we are no longer operating at a deficit while our debt is around $16T

My argument is not that argument. My argument is to materially cut SS, Medicare/Medicaid, and Defense. Without doing so, we will still operate at a deficit.

"The couple whose house is $300K underwater" is not doing anything to pay off the house if they are still spending more than they are taking in every year.

It is this kind of oversimplification of the very complex problem that is a) causing the current rift within the GOP about the budget negotiations; and b) deludes people into thinking it is as simple as just not writing checks anymore.

Its pretty simple for me. If I can't account for an amount that I want to spend on "X" I don't write a check.

I don't write it then ask my neighbor for a loan.

Then spend it again the next month, and ask for another loan, and an extension on what I already owe.

clearly you don't understand how difficult it is for gov't to make the same choices every American must make

Must be tough. Spend what you want with money taken from someone else. If you run out, you just go get some more or borrow it from another fund that was taken up for another purpose.

Then after it blows up, you collect your check and go home to your family. Sounds like a nice gig. I couldn't sleep at night tho.
