Winning 2/3 against a decent quality GCU team.

GCU was an offensive powerhouse and had done well so far even sweeping a series at Cal Poly in SLO.

Our pitching was lights out as we should have swept with any degree of clutch hitting on Saturday.

The midweek games will be HUGE this week as the SEC starts Friday. We need good weather and more outdoor at bats.

Florida has played 16-games and the Vols have only played 11. The Gators play 2-midweel games against Fairfield. (who has only played 3-games)

I have a good feeling. We have traditionally played well in Gainesville. Winning 2 of 3 would right all the weather-related ills so far. BUT! we need to start putting our little Bros at ETSU back in their proper place. They have obviously made a deal with Beelzebub and we need to tear up that contract.

It was nice to hear the bats of the BaseVols coming to life. It's supposed to rain all week from what i've read and heard. Hopefully the games can be played

Sorry but not sweeping a team that has only been D1 for 2 years is inexcusable. Being shutout on top of that is beyond pitiful

Spade is a spade.

They're in D1 for a reason. But I'm sure if you stood in that batter's box you would get a hit every time, right?

Sweeping anyone in baseball is difficult. Right now we should be happy we won a series and hope we keep playing better the more experience we get.

I love the style of ball we play but to put pressure on the D and score runs you have to get guys on base. Need to do a better job of drawing walks and making contact with 2 strikes

Not even close, there are several dominant programs that people with a football mind don't understand are good teams.

IC-Irvine
Cal Poly
Dallas Baptist
Coastal Carolina
Univ of San Diego

This is a quality team in an area with limitless talent pool that plays in as close to baseball heaven as you can get.

This lowly school hosts big schools and beats them regularly. They have quality young coaches -usually young.

Too many fans view college baseball like football. Even the best teams in the country lose midweek games to Belmont.

GC played far more games than UT coming into the weekend in perfect weather against better competition than UT played. Sweeps are rare unless you're playing some god-awful northeastern or upper midwest team who has little talent, bad facilities, no tradition and few games.

Grand Canyon is NOT Quinnipiac or Maine. They are better than the majority of SoCon or Big South teams and those are good conferences.

I am fully aware of the climate of college baseball

Western athletic conference is currently the 26th rpi league. Only 31 leagues

Comparing a 2 year D1 team from that lowly conference to the teams you mentioned is comical

Sorry. Again call a spade a spade

BruinVol is already in mid season form!! Impressive performance for you considering all of the weather related cancellations. Obviously, you have worked hard on your game in the offseason!!

Were you at the game we lost or did you listen to it?

Too early in the season for it to really matter but for those interested...

Pre-Grand Canyon Series

UT RPI: 162
UT SOS: 221
Vs. 1-50 RPI 0-0

Post Grand Canyon Series

UT RPI: 96
UT SOS: 128
Vs. 1-50 RPI: 2-1 *this puts us in line with the best of the SEC so far.

Numbers from Warren Nolan

GBO!

Bruin is a big BaseVol fan. He just stays negative so the sting of a loss isn't so bad. Once you understand that, he becomes good entertainment on the baseball forum.
