typical of the left, destroy the oil industry at all costs to pave the way for "alternative" energy sources, then oppose the alternatives with a NIMBY argument.
emainvol notwithstanding, I am beginning to truly despise democrats, particularly the ultra-liberal, bourgeoisie democrats like Feinstein, Kennedy, Pelosi, Obama, and so on.
When I first started visiting political internet message boards, one guy commented; "I wouldn't vote for Jesus Himself if He had a D by his name on the ballot."
I have grown to appreciate that statement more and more as time has passed.
How can anyone give any credibility whatsoever to what leading democrats continually lie about???
This week's 'Braying Jackass' award
"People are rightly outraged about these particular bonuses. But just as outrageous is the culture that these bonuses are a symptom of, that have existed for far too long; a situation where excess greed, excess compensation, excess risk-taking have all made us vulnerable and left us holding the bag. I hope that Wall Street and the marketplace don't think that we can return to business as usual." --Barack Obama, whose campaign's biggest benefactor was Wall Street
BHO told Leno he was stunned to recently learn of the AIG corporate bonuses but he had known for months they were coming, his secretary of the treasury (federal reserve puppet) was the one who pushed for it.
Furthermore their cure is worse than the problem they created, (with the help of media) they tore the Constitution to shreds with their 90% tax targeting one specific group.
The BIG lie
"I did not want to make any changes to my original Senate-passed amendment [to the stimulus bill,] but I did so at the request of administration officials, who gave us no indication that this was in any way related to AIG. Let me be clear -- I was completely unaware of these AIG bonuses until I learned of them last week." --Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT)
It was the
Dodd amendment in the stimulus bill that guaranteed the bonuses would be made.
Congressional Democrats took aim at the Obama administration Wednesday, blaming the president’s economic team for creating a loophole that allowed AIG to pay its employees millions of dollars in bonuses and then not doing enough to stop the bonuses when it could.
In an interview with CNN Wednesday evening, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) said that “staff-level people” at the Treasury Department pushed him to add what seemed like “innocent modifications” to an amendment he offered to the stimulus bill — and that language, in turn, made it possible for the bailed-out insurance giant to pay its employees more than $100 million in bonuses last week.
“The public confidence in our ability is being adversely affected — not just mildly, but seriously,” Dodd said.
He wasn’t the only Democrat expressing displeasure with the Obama team.
“Taxpayers deserve better than this from their government, and this is just the latest reason why legislation must be transparent for all Americans to see before it is recklessly signed into law,” said Eric Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House.
“The fact is that the bill the president signed, which protected the AIG bonuses and others, was written behind closed doors by Democratic leaders of the House and Senate,” Iowa Senator Charles Grassley said in a statement.
Like to many issues.....where in the world is common sense these days. I guess it depends on your special interest financial support for politicians.
"All of this reads as if yanked from an Ayn Rand novel. The government, in a desperate attempt to avoid political pain caused by its own foolish economic mistakes and lax oversight, has poured billions into bankrupt companies. Then when those companies pass out bonuses they claim are necessary to retain qualified workers, the political firestorm leads government officials to propose tax rates that would make even British socialists of a half century ago blush. We are slipping into debates that have nothing to do with a free economy and everything to do with the government calibrating how to balance the favors it hands out with the inevitable moral outrage those favors engender." --Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund
At least 13 companies receiving billions of dollars in bailout money owe a total of more than $220 million in unpaid federal taxes,
"If we looked at all 470 recipients, how much would they owe?" Lewis asked.
Lewis said the panel plans to review tax records from other firms receiving federal money, but he was unsure if it would look at every one of them.
"We're not done," he said.
Banks and other companies receiving federal money were required to sign contracts stating they had no unpaid taxes, Lewis said. But he said the Treasury Department did not ask them to turn over their tax records...............
No one from the Treasury Department appeared at Thursday's hearing. Lewis said he asked Treasury officials for a private briefing on their efforts to uncover unpaid taxes, as well as someone to testify at Thursday's hearing.
"They said no one was available," Lewis said in an interview.
Some people are upset at the $165
million in bonuses but that is only $1 dollar out of ever $1,000.
"Strain at the gnat and swallow the camel."
What about the $20
billion that went directly to European banks???
There is still some sanity in the heartland. Despite Obama's "tax and spend" economic recovery plan, at least one state remembers that cutting taxes and spending worked the last time we faced a dramatic economic decline. The Georgia House of Representatives passed the Jobs, Opportunity, and Business Success Act of 2009 (J.O.B.S. Act) last week, by a 164-to-4 vote.
According to economic analyst Stephen Moore, "The bill provides tax credits to employers for hiring new workers and suspends other business fees and taxes. A second bill, which passed 166-to-0, will eliminate the state tax on business inventory if voters approve it through a statewide referendum."
Well..she better propose a better option then...
You don't think you'll ever live to see wind turbines that would ever be faintly visible from the Kennedy compound do you??? Even though you couldn't pick a better spot for wind turbines than off the coast of Cape Cod.
The Senate passed the Public Lands Act Thursday, which sets aside more than two million acres in nine states as federally protected land. The Senate had passed similar legislation in January, but it was defeated in the House where Republicans fought for an amendment allowing concealed carry of guns in national parks. Supporters hail the bill as the most important conservation measure in decades. Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), however, contended that the bill would
hamper energy production on millions of acres of federal land.
I was watching the NBC nightly news last evening (something I rarely do anymore because MSM propaganda gets to be just a little more nauseating every day) and they showed some spectacular photos
of an undersea volcano that is currently erupting off the coast of the Pacific island of Panga, sending steam and volcanic ash thousands of feet into the air.
After the photos the broadcaster noted; "This won'd contribute to global warming and won't endanger sea life in the area."
I looked at my wife and asked; "does it ever seem to you like we are living in a really bad science fiction novel??" (She agreed, it was just the way he blurted it out, as if he didn't want to alarm anyone, honestly much of what they say is an outright insult to the intelligence of anyone with a 3 didgit IQ.)
We know global warming is all man's fault and we all must pay the price.
We all know endangered species are all mans fault and we all must sacrifice.
