"There is no surgery scheduled for Roshuan Fellows, we're trying to get it on the docket," Fulmer confirmed. "It's his choice and we have to do what's right for him long term."
In addition to Fellows, Fulmer said that Jared Hostetter will be out 4-6 weeks after having screws taken out.

my expectation is that antwan stewart will back-up both safety and corner and be the 5th DB in the mustang package.

Thats a kick in the balls there! I hope this is a rare thing this season, UT have had the injury bug this past few years

Not sure it's accurate that he is done for the season. This was from today's Maryville Daily Times:

On the injury front, head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh said junior defensive back Roshaun Fellows remains sidelined indefinitely with a shoulder ailment and is being evaluated daily.

nevermind, this is from today's Tennessean:

Tennessee junior cornerback Roshaun Fellows has elected to have surgery for a torn pectoral muscle and will miss the season.

If our secondary stays healthy this will not hurt very much. But, thats a big "if" and in the even of an injury to Wade or Inky then Morley would shift to CB and Stewart back to S. That is what they are saying at this point.

Fellows was the dime back and was too soft to play meaningful minutes at CB. We need someone to step up at CB unless we decide to move DMo or Hef to CB.

Tough loss, but not devastating. He was more of a Deion type that does not come up to make tackles. He also can't cover like Deion but thats not the point.

Like what was said earlier... this probably moves Stewart into the 5th db in the mustang package. Hopefully there is someone else that can step up because I cringe when Stewart hits the field.

no chance to use a medical redshirt???
I think he already has one redshirt season under his belt. If this is true, then his UT career is over. I do remember a Receiver from USC getting a 6th year of eligibility last year (don't remember the name. C. J. Leak got a 5th year or was it a 6th?

C.J. was awarded two medical years. One at Wake, and one at UT.

No. For some reason, they know that his situation is one that won't warrent an extra year.

However, Fellows is only a Junior. He will be a senior next season.

Seems like I've been waiting forever to see Fellows step up and become a major factor in the secondary and just when I think he will, he gets injured and is projected to miss the season.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. I thought RF was a redshirt Junior meaning he's already been here 4 years.

Redshirt Junior does mean he has "been here" 4 years, but a reshirt season is a season in which the player does not play in either any, or enough of a game to count against one of the four years of eligibility. In other words, you can be a redshirt senior, and it be your fifth year at the college, and fourth year PLAYING on the team. (See Jim Bob)

What I'm saying is RF could pull an Antonio Cromartie and enter the draft versus coming back for his final year of eligibilty. Cromartie (Florida State) was drafted based on his 40 time and NFL teams bypassed the injury issue.

Cromartie was a supreme athlete and did get to play some for FSU. When he was on the field he was a beast. He was highly regarded because of his play, as well as his physical ability. Supposedly, he is the best athlete they have had since Deion Sanders. If you saw him play against Miami two years ago, you know he isn't all hype and can really play the CB position. There is no way Fellows will be as highly sought after as Antonio was. I would not worry one bit about Fellows leaving UT early for the draft.
