We need to keep 2 very good QBs around in this type of offense. Any of these guys can start the season being #2 and be #2 game 1, 2, 3, 8. Look around. How many of these mobile QBs have injury situations? Manziel, Shaw, Driskel, etc....

I hope we can keep both Dobbs and Riley around the next 4 years. Understand at some point one may make a decision to leave. We need a strong backup. Let's not make up a QB competition from the fanbase that shouldn't exist. It is a team. We need more than 1 great QB.

Happens every time. When something goes one way, one group always gets upset- usually having some ties or interest in that particular player.

Remember the BJ Coleman hype? I worked with a guy who still swears to this day that Coleman was screwed by our coaches and really was the long term answer for the Vols at QB.

A lot of times, we get the "I saw this kid play against ____ high school last weekend. He is going to be a star/stud." In other words, the kid from your neck of the woods is always going to be a real beast.

We see it with recruits. Bo Wallace was "the greatest miss in UT history." Now Wallace has gone on to have a nice college career down in Oxford, but he's not the next Peyton Manning as people proclaimed him to be. Charlie High was going to come in and be the long term answer at QB. Good kid, but he's where he needs to be now.

He's a very talented kid. You don't get the opportunity to compete at the elite 11 camp if you're not. A lot of people on here don't realize he would've went in last week if it were not for a leg injury he sustained two weeks ago in practice. Dobbs will be good...maybe real good, but ferguson is the real deal. Both are better all around athletes than Worley.

We've heard it a million times from Riley fans already. The truth is that there was no indication that it was the case. Both QBs were warming up during the injury at South Carolina. The cameras caught Riley and ran with it. They have always been listed as co-second/third string on every released depth chart.

Dobbs was Elite 11 too, FWIW.

Dobbs was also at the elite 11 camp. So what's your point?

If you'll watch....QBs will usually warm up together regardless of the pecking order. Ferguson wouldn't have been the guy verses the Gamecocks either. Like I said, he's not a 100 percent and has even been seen in a boot last week. You obviously love Dobbs....but don't overlook Ferguson. Kids got a cannon and a very quick release.

I have nothing to gain or lose with with Ferguson or Dobbs playing. How ever it gets old when someones favorite does not get the nod and then they start making excuses and saying that Ferguson is better than Dobbs...

Since CBJ likes using the Brick by Brick analogy, let me ask the contractors out here a question. When building a house or building, do you put a lesser quality brick at the foundation of the project and keep the better bricks for once the project is complete, or do you use your best bricks at the foundation to help support the remainder of the building? My point being if Ferguson is such the super star and way better than Dobbs, why has he not been used. All this garbage about being hurt is nonsense, even CBJ said this. In his presser he said that Ferguson was ok and if the coaches had wanted to they could have went with him instead.

Seems that if CBJ is building his foundation for the future, he would use his best players (bricks) and that is what he has done. Worley was an old brick that has broken and is being replaced with a better more stronger one, the best one.

But mark it down that I said it here first. Ferguson is going to be very good. I expect to be held accountable for that prediction at some future date. :hi:

Click the link, brother. He posted the list of Elite 11 invitees. It's fine that you think RF is better, but you're not making it look like a very informed opinion with comments like that.

Ferguson and dobbs were both at elite 11 camps. All you have to do is google it.

Butch said it was a coaches decision to start Dobbs instead of Ferguson...

That was because Ferguson had missed numerous practices due to injury (although he was healed enough to play in the game if necessary). Thus coach played Dobbs because he had practiced more during the week than Ferguson. Doesn't mean that Ferg isn't the best overal talent we have on the roster at the QB position (which i think is true).

Both these dudes can play. We're in a good situation having two young guys like that. I don't understand all the drama about it. Just roll with it.
