Ferguson Hype

I have nothing to gain or lose with with Ferguson or Dobbs playing. How ever it gets old when someones favorite does not get the nod and then they start making excuses and saying that Ferguson is better than Dobbs...

Since CBJ likes using the Brick by Brick analogy, let me ask the contractors out here a question. When building a house or building, do you put a lesser quality brick at the foundation of the project and keep the better bricks for once the project is complete, or do you use your best bricks at the foundation to help support the remainder of the building? My point being if Ferguson is such the super star and way better than Dobbs, why has he not been used. All this garbage about being hurt is nonsense, even CBJ said this. In his presser he said that Ferguson was ok and if the coaches had wanted to they could have went with him instead.

Seems that if CBJ is building his foundation for the future, he would use his best players (bricks) and that is what he has done. Worley was an old brick that has broken and is being replaced with a better more stronger one, the best one.

Not to start a bedate with you or anything, because if we played Mickey Mouse at q.b and we won, I would be happy.

Fergy was injured and did not play on Saturday. So, (#1) even if Fergy was healthy, Dobbs may have still been the answer (#2) Fergy may have stayed on the sidelines because he was injured.

Either scenerio could be correct!!!

Also, I remember when we played UNLV at home. Fulmer/Sanders played Schafer in the first half, as the starter and played Ainge in the 2nd half. My thoughts are that they played Schafer in the 1st because of the type of defense that UNLV was running.

Ainge was the better q.b. but they started Schafer for that game. Of course, Fulmer was not building brick by brick, as bUTch is....

Both these dudes can play. We're in a good situation having two young guys like that. I don't understand all the drama about it. Just roll with it.

Exactly.

All I've said is that Dobbs looked good and he has the chance to prove he's our QB of the future since he played. Now, I'm apparently a Dobbs-hugger. I trust the coaches to make the best decision, but the conspiracy theories are getting ridiculous. It reminds me of the whole BJ Coleman Saga, where people from my area were swearing that there was a conspiracy orchestrated by Fulmer and Kiffin.

As a contractor, I would be careful to ensure that my best brick could support the load. I'd hate to damage it before I get the correct support around it. Just sayin..

I am with you, I wonder if Disney would let us borrow Mickey Mouse. I am not so sure all the hype on this injury, CBJ said himself that Ferguson could have played if that is who the coaches wanted. As stated, I am not sure which is better and like you will support whomever goes in. It just gets old when people debate which freshman is better, seeing that neither one had ever played a single snap before Saturday.

It will work itself out. Always does. Just be happy we have two Elite 11 freshmen QB's on the roster.

No, I don't love Dobbs. I love the Vols and want whatever is best for the team.

Check the link from CBS. Dobbs WAS AT ELITE 11.

Elite 11 field announced for Southern California QB showdown - CBSSports.com

Yes...he was. I just didn't remember him. I remember seeing Ferguson when espn was covering it. Ferguson was doing really well until he injured his hand. And I mean....who doesn't want the QB that gives UT the best chance to win? My initial point was simply that Ferguson had moved to number 2 before his leg injury two weeks ago.

This like times 1 million. Competition will make both of them better. The best one will win out. I also don't understand everyone thinking that all the other qb's will transfer once one is named the starter. Bama's backup qb Sims was once the #1 dual threat qb if I am not mistaken. He is a junior. Could have easily transferred and played elsewhere by now. Enjoy the ride. Better times ahead on the hill.

This. Hooker and TSR were openly discussing how in the off season Peterman and Ferguson likely transfer. Why? Only at TN do we expect every QB not starting to transfer schools. That isn't a common thing if you recruit them right (i.e. don't promise anything but an opportunity to compete each week).

Just wondering if there are Div.I coaches on here posting on their evaluation of these kids. Seems like most have a lot of knowledge on who should start and who will be transferring. I guess from all of the coaches meetings, practices, film study and individual coaching you guys do, you would know. Regardless of what decision CBJ makes or if a kid has a walking boot on or in a wheelchair..dammit he's better so play him! If any distinguished coach on here has any time available, I could use some of you guys as waterboys for my little league team. No advice please....just give the little fellas some water shut up.

So what happens to Peterman once he is healthy? Transfer or compete for the job. With all of the talk of Dobbs and Ferguson, Peterman now seems to be an afterthought. After his Florida performance I can understand why.

I have played close attention to this. I will confess ferg was my favorite to win the job. I will also confess that i am disappointed that he did not win the job. With all being said i was wrong. Dobbs is the future. Thats all there is to say. Ferg will be an awesome back up.

So because Ferg had an injured hamstring last week, that means he is the back up for 3 more years?

For all we know Ferguson was much better than Dobbs and would have been in if he had been able to practice during game prep week.

Josh will start the rest of the season IMO. Riley will get his shot at the staring role in the spring.

I've heard the saying many times that if you have two rotating QBs, you actually have none. But other schools have made the rotation system work, although I can't think of any at the moment. I'm sure CBJ and his offensive coaches will find the solution to the latest QB dilemma.

Ainge played the second series of that game.

I wouldn't go that far. Even though Dobbs faired well last week IMO, I would reserve judgement on Fergie until I see him play in a game. Who's to say that Fergie would have done better. Unfortunately we want see Fergie this year because CBJ doesn't want to spend another red shirt on him unless he is forced to.

Bad analogy. I wouldn't use a bad brick. Having said that I'm no contractor just a guy using his brain.
