Final Jordan Gainey appreciation post

Gainey came to play against Houston today. He's come to play almost all year. A long way from the way he started with Tennessee. Gratifying to get to watch him stick with the Vols and become the player he's been this year.

Guy showed up, today, and this whike tournament. He came in with a reputation as a shooter and struggled early on, took his lumps from fans, and just went out and got better. He never made excuses, always worked hard, and it paid off for him. If not for ZZ and Shack, he'd be more revered in this senior season for his service to the orange.

I could see Gainey bouncing around the G-League for a while earning a role coming off the bench in the NBA. He demomstrated his ability to create offense in some tough moments. I think he averaged over 14pts a game in the month of March. Way to improve over the course of your time at TN! Your selflessness to come off the bench and step up will be greatly missed!

And I remember on VolNation when he first arrived last year, all the doubters who basically thought he was here only because of his Dad. He had started out hot and then hit a slump and many of you wrote him off. It was ugly at times. You guys know it.

So very happy for his success this year. Played like he had something to prove. Wish we had him for a little more time. Thank you Jordan!

Congrats on a great career Jordon Gainey, you were Mr. Clutch in so many ways during this season. I enjoyed watching you and this entire team play. GBO

Not only that but he was one of the few players of the last couple of years that had potential AND took that next step his SR year. Thinking of guys like Vescovi or JJJ or Plasvic who were solid but never took it another level and ended kinda disappointing. Gainey was fantastic this year.
