The Ags put up some impressive first half numbers on Senior night here, to finally snap the streak Mizzou held on them. It was great theatre all around for the nearly 90k in attendance including some dramatic plays, injuries, and field goals. Here's how it went:

Offense: TAMU has scored to open the game on their first drive so many times, I've lost count. They put their collective foot on the gas and never let up. It was really great to see CMike reach pay dirt early and often and fellow senior Ryan Swope was no stranger to the end zone either. #JFF commentary below.

Defense: Outstanding effort by the 1's and most of the 2's throughout the game. It took Mizzou nearly as long as it took LSU in the NCG to cross the 50. Containment on a backup QB is to be expected, but the pass rush bothered the kid and forced him to make throws down field in to the teeth of the Aggie D. Great job all around.

Special Teams: In dramatic fashion Taylor Bertolet was on the money all night. The ovations after every PAT could only be compared to those normally reserved for the TD's that come before it. There's really very little to complain about here and that's a good thing.

Overall: Reaching 10 wins was not the goal and Kingsbury said as much earlier last week. This group expects to win every time out. That's not arrogance IMO. What that is, is a coaching staff that either A. Reads Texags a lot, or B. Came here to take a so called "sleeping giant" to the top of the College Football world.

#JFF: From the comfort of my in law's living room we witnessed another Heisman style performance from the golden son from Kerrville Tivy. Breaking Cam's record was to be expected. What was not expected was that knee twist that caused Kyle to transform in to a Funeral Home for nearly 7 minutes. But alas, #2 rose again and continued to do what he does. Seriously guys, I could go on and on, but there's really no need to. The kid is quicker than a hiccup and honestly can not do anything else to prove he is the best player in College Football. Period. To the voters, I'll leave it with this: "Are you not entertained?"

Next up: Bowl game vs. ?

I really really really feel sorry for "?" btw.

Gig em.

(Dust begins to settle in the grand arena known as Kyle Field. The band has stopped playing the Hymn. The 90,000 fan in attendance remain standing as the entire Heisman Trustee Board makes their way to the 50 yard line. Kneeling in the North End Zone is a quarterback. Bruised, battered, but victorious 10 times over, JFF collects his breath.)

William J Dockery: Rise. Rise.

(JFF stands up)

William J Dockery: Your fame is well deserved Quarterback. I don’t think there’s ever been a player to match you. As for the SEC coaches, they insist you are Cam Newton reborn, or was it Tim Tebow? Why doesn’t the hero reveal himself to the media and tell us all your real name? You do have a name.

JFF: My name is freshman.

(JFF then turns to walk away)

William J Dockery: How dare you show your back to me! Quarterback! You will remove your helmet and tell me your name!

(JFF removes his Maroon Helmet and turns slowly to speak.)

JFF: My name is Johnny F’ing Football, commander of the 12th Man, General of the Fightin Texas Aggies, loyal servant to the true Coach of the Year, Kevin Sumlin. Quarterback to a battered fan base, savior to a stray cat. And I will have my Heisman Trophy, in this season or the next.

I'd vote for him if I had a vote. I can tell you I was against expansion of the SEC to include A&M and Mizzu. Mostly because I am old and kinda can get stuck in my ways and I don't really see them as "southern" schools. But its been a breath of fresh air to have A&M in the conference this year. Seems to be a great school with a great set of supporters/fans.

I was at the game in College Station Saturday night.
It was really something to see. I've been to games in Lubbock and Austin and the College Station experience blew them away.
A&M really does belong in the SEC

also, I've been in stadiums before that have gone silent due to an injury, but when Manziel grabbed his knee, the silence that fell over Kyle Field was absolutely spooky.
It was so silent, I really feel like if I'd said something at normal conversational volume levels, people could have plainly heard it on television.
I was sure glad to see him recover. I really think he wrapped up the Heisman Saturday night.

What were your impressions of the Fightin Texas Aggie Band?

they were outstanding. I even took a pic

it was just a fantastic and memorable experience.
I have several Aggie friends and A&M fans are nice, friendly people who are very passionate about their team and school.
I seriously recommend fellow Vols to make the trip when we play in College Station some day. You won't be disappointed. It really did exceed my expectations.
These folks fit in the SEC like a hand in glove imo
