From the article: "For Caldwell, the rivalry was fascinating because of the way both teams seemed to elevate each other’s level of play. She recalls one of the most memorable games between the teams: the 2008 national championship game, when Tennessee faced UConn for the title. Despite being an underdog, UConn, led by a brilliant performance from Maya Moore, managed to secure the victory. It was a heartbreaking moment for Lady Vols fans, but Caldwell saw it as a pivotal point in the rivalry."
A long time ago I wrote a few articles for a couple local papers, and I made some embarrassing mistakes. For instance, I once somehow managed to attach the wrong name to a person who was literally a focus of an article. How embarrassing? Her husband coached me in high school football. Yes, we had an editor, who apparently had a lot of confidence in my professional integrity. We'd sell a few-thousand copies of that sports weekly, so, of course, there was feedback. It can humble you. All these years later I'm still blushing.
Most of you will recall news of the Maya Moore recruitment: the "meeting" in Coach Summitt's office; the "Tour," the "House," and other such antics; not to mention Patricia Sue's stern adherence to principle that led to the cancellation of the greatest rivalry in Women's sports since Evert-Navratilova.
However, I doubt that any of you will remember the 2008 Title game loss to Connecticutt.
