Great game planning with Fulky. Oscar's strength is not foot speed and our staff exploited this. When he tried to go out and man up with Fulky he kept beating him to the rim.

I’ve seen several comments on Tshiebwe being slow footed and a weak perimeter defender and a one dimensional player who only rebounds. I’m no basketball savant, but I don’t see any of that. I see an extremely quick athlete who is the first to get his hands on the ball on a crowd. Guy can get down the court as fast as any bigs I’ve noticed. Also, he has a sweet 15-17’ jumper and makes his free throws. I’ve read on here a bunch that if a player can make free throws then the nba believes they can make 3’s? Cal would be crazy to sacrifice Tshiebwe’s rebounding by pulling him away from the paint so he gets very limited touches on the perimeter. Maybe Tshiebwe will be a total bust in the nba, but he’s been the most impressive big we’ve faced in recent memory.

I think folk’s impressions on Tshiebwe are off because they don’t understand how good a healthy Fulky is at playing in space.

NBA bigs don't necessarily need to shoot from distance but they need to defend on the perimeter. While Fulkerson is a much better ball handler than he is given credit for he’s not in the same league as the guys Tshiebwe will need to defend when they pull him out with pick and roll action (nearly every NBA team runs pick and roll action). He will need to make adjustments fast to be able to be a strong defender in the NBA. Enes Freedom is another former Kentucky big (even though he never saw the floor) who is similarly good at rebounding except with a much better offensive game, and he can’t stick to an NBA roster because of his defense.
