I recently switched to using Firefox instead of IE on my laptop, but since I've done that, for some reason, I get logged off if I sit idle for about 5 or 10 minutes at a time. I also switched to Firefox on my desktop at work and it seems to be working fine. It's just on my laptop. It never did that when I was using IE, but now that I'm using Firefox, it keeps logging me off. It's not that big of a deal, just kind of irritating to have to keep logging in.

That is odd. I'm sure you are making sure the remember me box is checked?

Is it happening on other sites or just here?

I do always check the remember me box, and it's just this site. There's another site that I'm on that uses the same board layout and I can stay logged in on that one. It's just this site and only on my laptop.

are you closing it out or it just does it while FF is still open? There are settings in FF that delete history/cookies every time you exit and you might have these set. Not sure if there are idle settings but wouldn't be surprised

Firefox stays open and Volnation.com stays open. But if I let it sit for a few minutes and then go back to it, it logs me out.

found this on a mozilla board. From reading it may be that the cookie has become corrupt. This is something to try but it will force you to log back in to all your sites (since you're purging them all)

Firefox 3 logging out of sites even though I hit Remember Me • mozillaZine Forums

I shut down my browser and deleted both my cookies.txt and cookies.sqllite files, then restarted the browser. Worked like a charm. Apparently the files had gotten corrupted somehow, and session information was not being saved correctly. It took a complete purge to start again from scratch. (Note that cookies.txt is not used in FF3, but if you have one leftover from the upgrade, delete it too.)
you can find those files by using the instructions in this link (just depends on your OS)

Profile folder - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

please note this is a do at your own risk and VN accepts no responsibility for this post :)

I guess that worked. When I first tried it, it still logged me out, but then I tried a restart and since then (sometime last night) it hasn't logged me out since. Thanks guys.

Over the last few days, Firefox has been killing my system resources, taking up about 99%. I upgraded firefox and restarted my computer to see if this would help, but re-opening the VolNation main page and about 6 tabs worth of forums started taking up 99% of my system resources again. Are there some scripts running wild on VolNation that anyone is aware of?

Could be an issue with flash. Flash is buggy and is usually the culprit when I've had issues like that.
