I think there’s too much talk about firing coaches. Everyone’s hurting after that loss to OSU however we need to consider the consequences of firing coaches.

1. The coaches may actually be great coaches. Look at how Banks was viewed in 2022 vs 2024.

2. We could lose key players who are on our roster. They have multi year long relationships with coaches and often come here specifically for those coaches. It’s not uncommon for most of a room to leave.

3. They have existing relationships with recruits years out and you may throw away relationships and hurt recruiting long term. Example we are the favorite for the #1 WR in 2026.

4. The replacement could be even worse. Example UT’s coaches from between Fulmer to 2021.

Elarbee is just plain bad. Martinez is average on his best day. Neither going anywhere because 1. Elarbee is Heupel’s boy 2. Heupel already had the chance to let Martinez go when his contact expired but he renewed him.

My concern is the complete lack of pass blocking against the two really good teams we played, UGA and OSU. O Line got demolished. It’s one thing to do it against much lesser teams as it gave us a false sense of security. Your guys have to be able to compete. I would be fine seeing Elarbee get replaced. There IS a good, young O Line coach out there somewhere.

There is always chirping about coaches after a loss. Just days ago Ryan Day was all but out the door because he couldn't beat Michigan. Same thing for Franklin at Penn St because he couldn't beat Ohio St. It's amazing how a win can change the narrative. Same thing for a loss. The same calls for JH that we see on this forum are repeats of comments made after we lost to Georgia/South Carolina in 2022 and losses last year.

I am not calling for firing coaches. I am calling for better offensive play calls.
On 4th and 6th Ohio State comes out in cover 0 with cushion on the receivers. We ran the option against it. Quite possibly the worst play you could run there other than a blast.

I agree I thought play calling was terrible last night. Nico is getting rushed every down and we have the WR running 15-20 yd plays. We never adjusted to shorten the routes or run WR screens or passes to backs.
