From Rob Lewis a couple days ago...

D'Montre Edwards, because of his size and shooting stroke, seems like the most likely of the three to play early, but he self-admittedly has some ground to make up.

Derek Reese has been impressive in spots. He has better lift than we anticipated and a nice stroke.

Armani Moore is perhaps the best pure athlete of the three but also probably has the furthest to go before getting acclimated to the college game.

Still feel very good about my expectations on Edwards and this just makes me more confident in it. I think Reese is definitely showing much more than many, including myself, expected from him. With that said I don't think hell see the floor much this year, but maybe in years to come have find his role. Armani seems to be behind, very pure athlete, but all reports are he's not showing the PG skills they were hoping for from him. He may also find himself on the bench with Reese, which would probably give Richardson the backup PG minutes.

Very interested to see what all CCM can do with Armani down the road...

I thought they were really high on Moore coming in and backing up GOlden at PG this coming season. What happened? Did they do a poor job of evaluating him?? All we kept hearing is how they found " a Diamond in the rough..."

I remember the staff being high on him, but I'm not sure they were positive he'd be able to come in and play backup PG. that was the hope, but I don't think it was definitely expected.

Wishful thinking I guess. My biggest worry about this team/program is we never seem to have a "true" PG. GOlden can play the role but I wish we could use him at off-guard.

Golden doesn't get nearly enough credit for being a PG. He was a top 3 PG in the SEC as a true Soph last year in nearly every stat. He is a top notch PG, and he will prove that to everyone this season IMO.

I really hope McBee can shoot on the road like he shot at hoome last season. He was a killer in the corner at home last season. If he can be that player that stretches the defense out to the corner I think our other perimeter players will have much more success driving from the wing.

this team still lacks shooters. One of the new guys is going to have to step up and be a guy that can come in and hit a couple.

Golden is more than adequate at PG, he's a top 5 SEC PG no doubt, and probably top 3 this coming year. I worry about the 10 minutes he's out of the game, but I'm not at all worried about our starting PG position. I think it's a strength.

Which is why I see Edwards gettig major minutes. I understand it was juco, but his fg% was great for a wing, and he has shot consistently from deep in his 2 years in juco, plus 35%. He rebounds and plays defense extremely well, and he already has an SEC body.

He's exactly what Martin was looking for IMO, a big physical athletic wing, who can get to the hoop, shoot the 3 consistently, and will defend. Edwards will be given every opportunity to start/see major minutes by CCM, IMO it's already his spot to lose.

I agree. This is my one complaint about this team and the point I use to quell the enthusiasm of a deep tourney run.

I have been skeptical of Edwards having a big impact, but if he can hit the 3 consistently like he did in this clip, you may be on to something.

He was a consistent 35+% three point shooter in juco, and that's exactly for what we need. Also a good rebounder in juco averaging around 7 boards a game. Yesterday's game he had 8 rebounds in 20 minutes, exactly the player we need IMO.
