I would like to get peoples opinion about something. If firing CBP would not have made a difference on the sanctions the NCAA is about to give us, would it have beeen better for the basketball program to keep him? Did they fire CBP, with the hope of getting a less severe penalty from the NCAA? I am not for or against CBP or CCM, I am for the UT athletic program and want whats best for it. I will support the coach, whoever it might be. I have read that the AD at UT fired CBP,(among of things) in hopes of getting a lesser punishment by the NCAA. I have no idea if that is true or not.
The general understanding on this issue was that Pearl was set to remain at U.T. but then more mis steps by him came to light. It is also believed that during the S.E.C. tourney in Atlanta, that Slive talked to Hamilton and shared with him what the likely NCAA sanctions with Pearl and with out Pearl remaining on the staff would be.
Supposedly, Hamilton weighted the information Slive provided to him and decided to let Pearl go.
I hope that the infor was verified with the NCAA. I do not consider Slive a trustworthy source. The general understanding on this issue was that Pearl was set to remain at U.T. but then more mis steps by him came to light.
